Ctrl key doesn't work for making control groups

Hi, I have an issue where my ctrl key doesn’t work for making control groups. Shift + number usually adds units to a control group, which still works, but I can’t redefine them using ctrl. However, if I press shift + ctrl + a number I get the functionality of using only ctrl, and can redefine groups. Without also pressing shift though, holding ctrl and pressing a number key does nothing. Outside of wc3 my ctrl key works just fine so there is no issue with my keyboard.

Some things I have tried without success:
-Disabling all custom keybinds
-Ahk to swap space and ctrl
-Fresh reinstall
-Disabling and enabling every setting I could think of
-Opening a support ticket
-Deleting War3Preferences.txt

You better try to check your keyboard settings + drivers.
Does in other games work?

Do you have AutoHotKey or similar program installed?

Yes, it works absolutely fine in every other game and program. Only in WC3 for some reason.

I do have AHK installed. I tried using it to swap ctrl and space. If I do this, ctrl key now works like space key normally, i.e. zoom camera to last event. Space key now does nothing.

Absolutely correct, you cannot set groups for buildings and double click on same buildings to highlight in groups .
