Crypt should not require lumber to summon

Crypt should really require no lumber to summon. I know this is really an edge case, but as an undead player, if you are left with only a single acolyte, a lot of gold, and zero wood, you are pretty much stuck at spamming necropolis and graveyard, cause that’s all you can do. Human and Orc can just build a lumber mill and chop the missing lumber before they can build a town hall, and bounce back into the action, and nelf doesn’t need to do even that, just find any tree, hug it for a little bit, and you’re good to get back to your full force once again. But as an undead, you could hypothetically fall into this uncanny valley, where you are just stuck in the weirdest limbo possible, because to get wood, you actually … need wood! Even haunted gold mine requiring wood to summon, that acolytes can’t harvest, is a bit strange to me, although I realise that’s kinda tradeoff for having it independent from the main building, which does not require lumber to summon, so I’ll go with it. But crypt requiring lumber to summon is just plain wrong. It should not have any lumber requirement at all, full stop. Increase its gold cost, increase its build time, I don’t care, just get rid of that lumber requirement on the crypt please. 99.98% of games are likely to never have that problem, when all you have is one acolyte, no lumber, and a lot of gold that is, but the very fact, that it can hypothetically be possible, is already a reason big enough to do something about it

Hard no to increasing build time. This early in game, it can seriously break the balance. Cost to build is already pretty high, cannot increase more than 10 without affecting altar and other stuff, delaying which can have domino effect on the whole game too.

Just decrease crypt’s total hit points from 1300 to 1000, to be on par with Ancient of War, imo that should be enough to make up for a lost lumber requirement. Also, even though the following is not a solution, because goblin laboratories are not present in all maps, it is still hilarious how goblin shredders require lumber to hire. Like, that’s why I’m hiring the lumber machine dude, because I need lumber, not because I have excess one… Now that is a unit that could really have its gold increased by 100, and lumber decreased by 100, cautiously assuming, goblins would be all for it, would they not?

Long story short: if as UD you run out of wood than you total noob!
Make 4 ghouls and put them to work.

You missed the point completely, but whatever

No, I did not, is ok like it is now !
Because a lot of noobs make 1 or 2 ghouls all game, than some of them either get shredder (second best choice) either beg for lumber as UD from others (worse choice) , does not mean that they should change the cost of Crypt.

When I see UD or NE go shredder => of course you can do it but that 's not the “spirit” of those races.

When I see people like you want to change the root’s of game, I am thinking that you want some exploit, make 3-4 early Crypts to get advantage in early game… than why not make human Workshop lumber free or elf Hunter’s Hall lumber free?!?

You just can’t read my original post above, can you?

Okay, speaking your language then

Undead: Trying to chop down trees with Acolytes
Ghouls harvest Lumber, not Acolytes.

I would surely love to do that… if they didn’t cost a whooping 200 gold! This pretty much rules it out until T2 and expansion, and by then, all factions have better alternatives than spamming crypts. Who even makes more than two anyway?

no it’s not

yes they should. Already because a fact that you cannot get lumber anywhere on map via any other means except of harvesting it. If you have zero gold, you can still sell items, or creep the remaining camps. If you have zero wood, you can only do the following, and this is the third time I’m repeating myself now

Alternatively undead main building could get a ‘trade 100 gold for 50 wood’ option, just enough for a crypt. Would we be happy with that?

But nobody will change the cost of Crypt - not even lower with 10 wood
So you just waste your time

Well it’s an edge case anyway, likely not applicable in 99.98% of games, but I just had to point it out, and so now once I did, again
