… is actually having problems with development because they greatly underestimated the amount of work that Reforged actually needs in order to meet their own expectations and are now trapped in a deadline that it’s plain impossible to respect?
It’s very plausible that they are having problem with Reforged game code, game engine and framerate, maybe even all of these three problems at the same time.
They said “hehe it’s using WoW engine, we will have no problems upgrading it”, but that was not the truth, this is basically what i fear it’s happening… And if the situation is really this, i would be happy if they just postponed WC3 Reforged release to 2020, so they can develop more and immediately proceed to Fix WC3 Vanilla online modes

I believe that there biggest problems right now are online features and keeping the original feel with the new graphics.

Updating 15+yr old spaghetti code isn’t easy. Them having under 2 years to do it all is a daunting task.
SC:R might not have been as bad since they didn’t really update the engine too much (AFAIK). Reforged is getting pretty big updates though, so I have to say I’m surprised they capped it for 2019 rather than taking their time.
But I can see that they might have been pressed to get it announced and preorder sales to buffer some of the losses they gained in 2018, especially the tail end of the year where they would have expected more sales from Black Friday and whatnot. Tinfoil hat speculation, take with a grain of salt.

We do already know that they’re smaller enough that they contracted another studio to help them make 3D art and assets.

My man, i’m actually afraid of this thread you made.
this is basically the darkest of futures warcraft 3 Reforged could have and my god i hope i’m wrong.
deadline and can’t finish ? like ok well PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TAKE MORE TIME… TAKE ANOTHER YEAR.
but if they don’t then:
well basically if they can’t maintain the problems of keeping both Frozen Throne and Reforged work togather and crash and most importantly cause a cascade of world editor issues bugs on top of bugs and breaking the logic of how things work.
then truly wc3 has met its doom at that time. also they have to realize (which i’m sure they do) the execution of this is soo important that the content of the game depends on it.
like map makers big or small basically develop free content for the game if its harder for us to do so then Reforged is not going to have a happy ending.

Considering their willingness to throw out doomsday patches that break many aspects of the game when they reach deadlines then patch in weeks and months to fix the problems they created…
It’s likely they will release some shoddy garbage where their main focus is just having the campaign being playable from the start to finish so the majority of new players buying Reforged will not complain.
Then we’ll get some patch every month or so, slowly bringing the game up to some semblence of acceptable functionality and perhaps a year later we will have a working, polished Warcraft III again. The only question is if the older community will stick around for more free beta testing or move on to a better environment. My guess is we will stay and take the beating, because we love the game that much (and actiBlizz probably knows that as well).

I’m pretty sure what you said will be the case

There’s gotta be something in the law though that they can’t extend the period untill it get’s released… Cause people have already pre-ordered.

Yeah it is safe to bet that they’ll give us the beta around hopefully end of June start of July(just hopes) and will release it with nearly no bug fixes at the deadline every player will be a beta tester probably in a year or two the game will become stabilized (for another example check WoW:Beta For Azeroth)

Maybe instead of a beta they’ll release the game in like 4 seperate waves? 2 campaigns in each wave? With like 2-3 months in between them?
They can release an unfinished product, that is always an option.
I mean WC3 right now is a released product that’s constantly broken. Maybe it’s their intention to lower everyone’s expectation of having everything working when Reforged is released

They obivously NEED player feedback.
Even logically speaking this is a prob with RTS genre.
One change is a big change.
Plus RTS is strategy and Blizz Dev team are developers who work by feedback and ideas.
They really dont know balance cuz they are not really “Gamers”…
So lookin forward to beta

Which is why they should release new UI Screen Shots. Then we can provide feedback and tell them to change it.

They can’t 1 dolar is worth 1000 malaysian money anyway
The problem is not about campaigns, balance or art assets, the problem is on WC3R very own foundation, the game engine is most likely having problem running properly and at a reasonable framerate.
Then we have the second and bigger problem, Reforged code is almost for sure a mess, i mean just look at these pre-Reforged patches that are basically bugging the heck out of wc3 classic, it’s so bugged and unstable that they even had to cut every online mode that is not meelee TfT until Reforged launch.
For anyone that seems dubious about these problems being present, just look at how much infos we’ve got until now… Zero, plus the aforementioned patches that are bugging a fuken 17 years old game instead of polishing it.
It doesn’t make sense that they let the hype die away if there are no problems and there’s something working to show us, it’s unexplicable not only on a communication level, but also on a Marketing standpoint, yeah, they are losing money and potential buyers with this zero infos strategy, the precious money that Acti/Blizz HQs love so much (i am not bashing developers btw)
The overall problem about this (imho) is that a team too small embarked on a project too big and too complex with not enough time to develop it properly, let’s add to it a low morale at Blizzard and the fact that Head Quarters will try to release reforged in time no matter what, even if prayed by the Devs to concede a release delay and we are in a pretty bad spot.
Right now i am more and more incline to hope that this project gets Delayed, the last thing i want is a buggy mess that will end up shattering WC3 Community, something as disastrous as Diablo 3 launch, something this catastrophic.

Blizzard probably asked for more outside of the contract and they asked for outrageous money and now they’re stuck because they have to get the rest of the assets done inhouse which takes time to get the funding sorted
I actually see this being a potential factor. We don’t know how the shift in development has affected Reforged and the classic team.
Silence is not always a bad thing, considering Nintendo has worked like this for ages and only hold a press release when they’re absolutely ready, not just willy-nilly at any ol’ convention.
Love how the same people that cry about actiblizz not owing us any news or updates also cry that they need feedback to move forward. Make your minds up silly shills.
Not even gonna bother touching on the subject of 1.31 changes going straight to live and destroying stuff instead of going to PTR for testing first. I guess we’re supposed to take a jet to blizzard offices and test in-house for them. Instead of stabilizing on PTR then updating live to PTR version, what blizzard is doing is showcasing on PTR, making more changes and going straight to live with an untested version. Essentially we aren’t live on 1.31, it’s more like 1.31b with most of the 1.31 PTR bugs in addition to some new bugs they threw in. This is why there’s less people testing since 1.30. We’ve come to realize how bad the development process is with regards to community feedback and the company’s response or lack of response to that feedback. Hell, the bugs reported in PTR aren’t even addressed half of the time. It’s like they look at a list of bugs, pick out the easiest to solve and work on those so they can show progress instead of working on game-breaking issues first.
Shills can keep blaming the customer but it won’t change the facts, this is shady as all hell.
I personally don’t care about communication from a company about games in development but some blind fools are overlooking the fact that warcraft III was a complete game. Bought and paid for in full. They took a complete game and made it incomplete to boost sales for a cheap re-skin we never asked for initially, (which thousands of people have also already paid for) and now have gone dark about the whole thing.
