Copy of Warcraft III is Published on Steam

Well, if Purple War is “pretty much the same as Warcraft III” (c), then by that logic Overwatch is “pretty much the same as Team Fortress 2”, or Starcraft is “pretty much the same as Dune 2” (or warhammer 40k, pick whatever) etc. Warcraft-like RTS formula is not owned by Blizzard, Warcarft-like aesthetic is not owned by Blizzard as well. Considering the original statement is absurd, why shouldn’t I engage in the same absurd, especially considering my deep and unending love of modern blizzard?

Hmm, that fist cinematic looks oddly familiar… :stuck_out_tongue:

Unless there was literally warcraft 3 objects in the game, I’m pretty sure people can make games as similar as they want to any other game

not at all, there is no crow leaving footprints. so no trademark infringement.

Legally you can try and qualify similarity of artistic elements in one game to another to apply any copyright clause. But to do that you more or less must find enough elements that are nearly identical and are copyrighted by you specifically. So, having green ork with a katana or stone dude on fire is not enough. Plus there is always a parody clause to get additional protection.

So a parody of WC3 could be a game that doesn’t work but it’s made on purpose like that!

mmm no wait, that’s already wc3…

Isn’t it great - to live in the age of good stuff mutating into a parody of itself, and actual parodies beating their objects of parodying in BEING that object?
