Constant D/C and unable to play most games after big patch

SO ive made many tickets and the horrid mods/devs whatever just keep closing and marking as resolved and suggest I go here.

As a consolation for blizzard ruining an old game I suggested they refund my Diablo 4 purchase as it was horrid (but unrelated) as pittance for my time.

I’ve tried all their garbage troubleshooting, all my other games work on steam platforms so its just a blizzard issue.

Can someone help because the useless admins just mark as resolved to clear their ticket load so they can continue to get paid.

Ive seen so many ppl post “other games work so it must be you”

That doesn’t mean anything at all. The same hardware and software can run different games differently, windows updates or other variables can make everyone’s experience with a game different.

They aren’t marking your tickets resolved just for fun. My guess is one of two things:

  • You made a ragey angry customer ticket and they closed it because you were being disrespectful and too angry to be helped
  • You didn’t actually try any troubleshooting and just want some magic fix they can’t provide.

I’m not saying this to tick you off either- I have worked in tech support before, been raged at, and literally all they needed to do was turn the thing off and on agian. It has been memed to death but it’s really true, it happens ALL THE TIME.

If you want actual help and can reply in a civilized manner, then please post your core specs as well as a link to the contents of a dxdiag.txt file (start menu → type dxdiag and hit enter → click “save all information” → Post on pastebin or similar and link here)

Considering that I’m not seeing people regualrly complain about “constant DC and unable to play most games”, the problem is very likely on your end, whether you want to admit it or not, whether other games work or not.

Where are you located, and which gateway are you connecting to? Have you tried using a VPN? Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting your device directly to the internet connection? If you’re using wifi have you tried using a cable instead?

Many connection problems that only affect certain games can be easily resolved by using a VPN. Often you’re just stuck in a bad spot where your PC takes a bad route to reach the servers leading to problems like packet loss and disconnects. This can absolutely only affect a specific game. When using a VPN you can generally route your connection through any number of different relay servers, which can allow you to bypass a bad router or other back end network devices that might be making your life miserable.

Respond calmly and civily and I will be ecstatic to help you in any way possible.

Hi CptJack,

Thanks for the reply - Yes, you are correct. My tickets as of late have a negative tone because I’ve exhausted all other steps provided, done every troubleshooting step and swapped between connections (Wifi, wired, even phone tethered).

I think it’s fair to request some money back as I’ve given blizzard a good chunk of change and spent a considerable amount of time enjoying what they put out (In the form of buying Hearthstone season passes etc). You mentioned you havnt seen other posts similar to this but a quick scan of the forums show a lot of people having issues as of late and for me they started the day the “big” patch (20 buck cash grab for wc bundle) was released and have persisted since.

Now my other blizzard games are having issues as well.

While I could emphasize with a small, indy company who doesn’t have the resources or folks able to assist, I certainly have no compassion for a huge studio like Activision who makes millions per “Sparkle Pony” cosmetic they put out.

They can afford to pay people to have live tech support who should be able to troubleshoot this until it’s fixed.

You have to remember. Tech support people are just reading from a troubleshooting script. Its fine to be mad at the company but these people don’t have any control over that stuff. Their job is to answer your questions and provide the most probable answers based on the information you give them and the information they have available to them. Getting mad at them because they work for Blizzard is unproductive- put yourself in their shoes. Would you want to help someone who’s raging at you from the very beginning?

If you want to ask for a refund, you can, but in most cases they’re not going to help you if you’re outside of the limitations on refunds.

I think the best course of action would be to try to set the salt a side for a bit and let me / other forum goers here try to help you out, but it’s your choice.

Again, it’s not about the company itself. You should still be respectful to the people who answer your call for help. They aren’t the corporate bigwigs making the stupid decisions, they’re just regular joes working for low pay like most other people. Just today I was working the customer service desk at the store I work at and a woman came up to me because someone double-scanned their champagne. But they didn’t bring the item with them so I could scan it to process the refund. They got mad when I held them up to go get a bottle off the shelf to scan and gave me a big attitude over small potatoes.

You want to hate Blzzard? By all means. But save that for forum posts like this, emails, and social media. When a regular human being serves you, give them a chance to help you before you get upset. Even when you’re upset a little civility can go a long way. I am much more keen to help people who are pleasant and respectful over those who want to yell at me over an accidental double scan. (I very nearly refused to help them to tell them off for being an ???hat, but I decided I was better than that)

Sincerely,
Someone who’s worked in customer service for 25 years (alongside some part time indie dev jobs) and is absolutely sick of getting crap for something someone else did.

Warcraft III crashes a few minutes into campaign. Game has crashed 4 times and doesn’t work longer than a few minutes.

Make another thread for your issue, as it doesn’t seem to be related to this one. And provide more details, like your hardware, operating system, etc.

If you’re also getting really bad frame rates while this is going on, there is a very high chance the game is trying to use your system’s integrated graphics instead of your GPU. The integrated graphics uses very little memory and this can lead to crashes.

The game doesnt’ crash at all for me in the campaign, so without more information I can not help you.

That’s an misinformed point of view, integrated GFx are very much capable of running war3R something like a Ryzen 8845HS with an integrated Radeon 780M has processing power of 8.9 TFLOPs, which is more an adequate for something like warcraft 3. Even players running RTX 4090 have complianed of intermitent slow downs.

All of this has manifested after 2.0 patch.

can look for crash report? It might shed some light on what exactly is happening behind the scnes

It’s not misinformed at all. I went through it myself.

I have an (high end at the time I got it) Ryzen 9 7900X 12 core 4.7gHz CPU which features integrated graphics. The problem is mainly that it will use at most 512MB of system RAM, which is both small and dramatically slower than RAM onboard a GPU. I got maybe 10-20 FPS most of the time and there was a lot of hitching and instibility due to it maxing out the 512MB of RAM (most GPUs today have several GB of RAM- and war3 will absolutely use more than 512 outside of Classic mode).

So yeah. It’s not misinformed, you’re misinformed. integrated graphics are fine for 2D and for quite old 3D games or games that just don’t put a big load on it. But they’re clearly not fine for W3R, at least not in Reforged mode. Yes, this problem manifested after the 2.0.1 patch (not 2.0.0), but the problem for me and for some others was simply the game suddenly deciding to use the integrated graphics instead of our actual GPU. The game ran fine once I disabled the IG.

When I disabled the integrated graphics on the CPU, my problems immediately vanished. And regardless of whether the integrated graphics are sufficient, why would you want to use it when you most likely have a far more capable discrete GPU? The only benefits to using the integrated graphics are potentially lower power usage, and they can take load off the GPU in cases of things like playing multiple games at the same time.
