Cinematics remake

When I heard Blizzard won’t be remaking cinematics like they did an announcement trailer on blizzcon I got very very sad and disappointed :pensive:

me too… i sorta feel that they cheated by showing us the awesome intro cinematic at blizzcon only for the next cinematic to show the 2003 version of ugly thrall waking up… this will be really jaring and i was hoping they would remake all the cinematics since this is a remake and not just a remaster… (sorta sad that halo 2 got pumped up cinematics even though they were all originally ingame cutscenes yet blizzard is just leaving them all as they were in 2003 with HD touch ups :frowning:

Yep, same. Not entirely unexpected but… Disappointing.

it caught me off guard because if any company were to remake CG cutscenes it would be blizzard… they are in need of a remaster like they showed off at blizzcon and i hope that at the very least they end up remastering them after the release :frowning: but that’s almost the worse case scenario (worst being they just leave them and never remaster them at all)

I’ll just be happy if the old ones work… I started playing it again about there months ago and realized that on Windows 10, cinematics simply will not play. All you get is a black screen and sound :frowning:

maybe if we are lucky, they will surprise us with remade cinematics or at the very lease give them to us slowly after the game has launched. better to get them late then never :frowning:

This was a really disappointing find.

From memory i thought they said they are remaking both cutscenes AND cinematic on grubbys stream when they were picking questions from chat.

I wish they’d add them over the time after release, but that most likely wont happen. This made me feel a little skeptical sadly.

If they dont have the budget to make them all, then blizzard, atleast give TFT a proper cgi finale please, including the confrontation up to the final walk.

Honestly, I was in disbelief when they promised they would remaster all cinematics. It’s a titanic amount of work. WC3 had 9 cinematics in total.

  1. RoC prologue.
  2. Orc prologue.
  3. Human prologue.
  4. Human finale.
  5. Undead finale.
  6. Orc finale.
  7. Night Elf finale.
  8. TFT prologue.
  9. TFT finale.

I do hope there will be the Illidan vs Arthas fight, however.

And still not as titanic work as Blur studios did with Halo 2 cutscenes, turning them all into CGI and even going extra length to do the extra cutscene that originally was released in H2 multiplayer map pack:

Thats over 50 minutes of cinematics, double the amount of CG cinematics of WC3 : RoC and TFT…then again I do understand that just remaking all the ingame cutscenes is colossal work, and I can atleast appreciate that they are doing that.

Imo, those were pretty easy to make as they are so trash, they couldn’t be screwed up anyway. They look like a war movie.

Whereas with WC3, every millisecond, every blade of grass, every muscle will be scrutinized.

Really now, you cant be freaking serious…Blur is one of the best studios out there doing this stuff…

I dunno, every non-Blizzard cinematic looks like bland, uninspired, dead garbage to me. Take the cacophony of Final Fantasy XIV, take the disgusting music of Smite, take the unashamed anime style of League of Legendas, take the junk cheesiness of Lineage 2…

You can’t compare anything to the sheer hopelessness of Archimonde destroying Dalaran, or to the epicness of Arthas donning the Helm of Damnation, or to the richness in allusions in the original WC3 prologue…

Warcraft 3 SD cinematics does work on Windows 10, you just gotta apply this fix:
