Hello. When I type and enter the message, it won’t display the message on screen in the game if I am hosting a game. It only displays the message in game if I play in test map mode through World Editor or play somebody else’s game in custom game. I host few different maps, and the chat still doesn’t work in game. Doesn’t work on allies, everyone, and private tabs in the game. I am not sure if you understand the problem I am having with chat in the game when I am hosting a game. Happened few weeks ago. I haven’t play online on WC3 for few weeks because I have been working on my own map in World Editor for few weeks, and then I came back to play online on WC3, and the chat in game doesn’t work if I host a game only.
Sometimes when I press enter on a chat message I have been writing in game to others, it makes the sound of the chat enter, but no text appears. This happens in custom games.
I noticed this typically happens when you don’t have any allies in said game. The same happens when you are in a lobby alone, you cannot talk. In game try talking in ALL but try it with other people in game and not on your team and see if that works… Idk if this is something blizzard intended or not.
Yeah I got the feeling this was an oversight. They probably rewrote the networking code of the game, and on the new server code if theres nobody to send messages to then it removes you from the messaging server entirely. That way it uses less computing power at Blizzard, and you know that players cant rejoin a game so a chat server hosting 1 player is always pointless.
I could see how a developer who isn’t super familiar with the game but is familiar with developing chat servers would make this mistake. He doesn’t care that this means if you’re playing a loap map where you have to type a chat command "-open" to open the door of your house, now the other players in a multiplayer session can all quit the game and stop you from entering your own house by shutting off your chat server – even if you remain in the game.
These kinds of things are just oversights. Actually I haven’t checked if this was fixed in the latest patch, but it’s low on the totem pole, so it probably wasn’t fixed, right?

I have also similar problem. I can see my own messages anywhere except any custom map on battlenet. I can see at single player games, battlenet general chat, but no multiplayer games. Doesn’t matter if I hosted or not, can’t see my messages even at message log.
