These types of abilities were not possible in the original Wc3 without complex and unwieldy trigger editors. They are all very popular abilities that players have been wanting in this game for ages.
It would be a great idea to add charge, leap and knockback mechanics to the world editor so map makers can use them for all new abilities without having to rely on scripts and triggers.

I agree with this post. Could be very useful. Warcraft 3 is for many people and me is like good GameMaker Tool. Creating own custom maps and campaign is thing that made me (and other players) to play this game since 2003, so improving world editor and other game features is very important for people like us.
They do plan on upgrading the editor so hopefully it will allow more customisation for these kind of things without triggers.
I understand they want to keep the final upgrade in line with the current wc3 editor over sc2 editor but I also hope they allow more flexibility with abilities as complicated as the sc2 editor can be itās got practically no limit other than the creators creativity.
If they have both a streamlined editor format with the option of a more advanced format that would be awesome for the life of new custom games which seems to be their focus.
I believe these mechanics were all possible in the original. Dota 1 spirit breaker had a charge and a knockback, and tiny had a leap in the form of toss.
I could be recalling incorrectly, but I think the Tiny toss thing was like a massive bundle of triggers, and I remember being impressed about that being put in the game when it did.
Granted, that was like⦠15 years ago so I donāt know if my memory is true or completely made up.
Yes, but they require a heck load of triggers and coding. Such āsimpleā abilities should be doable through the data editor. Or at least it would be super cool.
They even mentioned that rag doll effects are possible, if the community seems to want it, and I say we want it! Damn, how did I forget to make a topic about this myself.
This isnāt really necessary. It takes literally 15 minutes of coding to do a basic charge skill (both in GUI and in Jass scripts). Most of the base abilities are rarely used in custom games anyway, since they are too basic and limited in customization. If they added a premade charge/knockback skill, it may still end up never being used, because the map makers would just create their own custom skills with their own custom mechanics and behavior.
Instead of adding more premade abilities, they should instead add more natives so more and more complex mechanics could be achieved.

Agreed. New types of abilities and even the ability to straight up mix-and-match pre-existing abilities together so one ability has additional effects would be awesome.
wrong. Thereās no need for an āinsteadā, when āalsoā clearly seems to be an option. Iāve added pushbacks etc. with jazz aswell, but it did take its fair share of āresearchā. The easier they make it, the higher the chance we will get young kids doing super interesting maps, while they normally wouldānt have been able to because they lacked the programming skills.
Thereās a reason sc2 galaxy editor failed, even though it was as powerful as it was.
