I am trying to continue my campaign from my last saved game and I get the error: There was an error trying to load the selected save game. It’s been a few months since I have played and I would like to pick up where I left off, which was mostly through the campaign. What can I do?
Start the last mission again since your progress is not saved in your savegames. Savegames are not compitable with other patches just like replays

Flawaffles is correct. The main cause of this is due to it being a few months, some of the map files may have been modified after a patch, the saves from the previous patches won’t work.

I am sorry, but I can’t find any answer anywhere: is there a solution to this, or is Blizzard just saying that all the savegames made before that patch are lost?
And if I do start the campaign over again, am I gonna have the same issue next time they release a new patch?
Yes, that’s exactly what they’re saying. Again, just like replays save game files are not compatilble across patches. You don’t need to start the campaign over though, only the mission you were playing in the savegame. Campaign progess is maintained seperately from save game files, which are only for mid-mission saves.
If you save mid-mission, yes, you’ll have to keep in mind if a patch is incoming soon, that you need to finish that mission before the patch comes out. This was true prior to reforged and still is today.
