So I attempted to make a couple edits to a map and load it. But each time it just joins and then leaves the game instantly. I never get to the game lobby at all.
So I tried editing another map, but made no changes except to the description on the map and it does exactly the same thing. Tried reloading the game, of course.
Is there some magic way to load up a custom map or is this another bug?

I found another thread mentioning a potential problem with having an old Warcraft III directory in My Docs, so I un-installed, removed that directory and re-installed. Then only tried my map with just the changed name and the results are the same. Have to assume it’s a bug.
It’s a bummer - I chose to take the numerous bad reviews with a grain of salt - but they are right, it’s really ‘unpolished’. Only had it a day and already this custom game bug, the loading screens aren’t drawing right half of the time - got outright kicked from one mission for no reason at all.
Always liked WCIII and glad to see Blizzard gave it some attention, but I highly suspect management understaffed the dev team, rushed them though, etc… because I can’t see these bugs not getting caught in even a casual QA check.
So I guess we wait for an indeterminate amount of time now to actually have a stable and fully functional game, lol.
Blizzard’s mgmt needs to think of the customer some. I’m sure most would prefer to wait just a bit longer for a solid product. Just speaking for myself there.
EDIT:
So I found the problem! I edited a default map, but left the name the same. I could load custom maps from other games and then play them, so it had me thinking it had to be something with the map.
I re-saved and changed the name to something unique and it loaded right up. Didn’t really consider that since they were in different directories; so windows didn’t care - but apparently WCIII does.
Seems to have fixed it, I loaded all the way into a custom game - same map, just renamed differently than the default name.
