I will start by saying I do not own reforged, and I have no idea if this is just an OG client issue or what. Ive been playing Warcraft 3 for decades now, the game has always temporarily frozen when I open my custom maps folder while creating a lobby. It used to take, I don’t know, maybe 10 or 15 seconds to open the folder while creating a lobby. Since the last update my client runs so much slower that when I open my custom maps folder, the game freezes for at least 30 seconds, which causes my client to disconnect from battle.net, every single time. I am sure that I am not the only player experiencing this issue. I had some know-it-all in a lobby tell me that the game is very demanding of RAM with all the reforged updates, and that I needed to upgrade my computer to continue to play this, over 2 decade old game. So I doubled my RAM, launched the game, and it still runs JUST AS SLOW AS BEFORE!!! Obviously its not my machine. Every update in the past few years has made my client run worse and worse. Meanwhile I’m not playing reforged, I don’t understand why my client should run worse when nothing graphics wise has changed. Nothing changes besides the game is more unstable. I wish the reforged client never was integrated with my frozen throne client. Hopefully the new microsoft can manage this forgotten game better than blizzard alone could, because the original client is nearly unplayable.
They’re not going to fix an old version of the game.that will never happen in a billion years. If they fix anything ever its only going to be on the current version of the game.
Though that may not be what you’re actually trying to say. It sounds like you’re actually just talking about playing in Classic Mode in the current version of the game.
If you’re on a newer AMD CPU and seeing like <15fps there is a known issue where the game will choose to use integrated graphics over your GPU and disaling the integrated graphics in Device Manager will fix this.
It sure sounds like you are. You’re playing Reforged whether Reforged Mode is active and whether or not you bought it- Classic Mode vs Reforged Mode is just a graphics change and any technical issues you may be having will generally apply regardless… If you’re using some version of the game prior to 1.32, then you’re hecked, as old versions of the game will never be patched/updated. It’s like asking microsoft to release a patch for Windows XP in 2025.
Yeah I experience freezes too. To overcome this issue, I moved maps I host to a separate folder, this reduces ingame file navigator loading time drastically. Try it out
is there some way to run a version prior to 1.32? 1.33 was the update that really messed up my game and its never been the same since.
sure, you can find a copy on the internet, but you won’t be able to go online with it, as it will just update to the current version.
