Can we get a High Poly Terrain? Normal Map

As the screenshot shows, the buildings are great in terms of poligons, but the terrain is very low poly in comparision… It will be great if this can be updated.

i don’t think they can change that…

they can. 100% for cliffs. But i’m also sure they can increase poly-count on any terrain.

Somewhere inside mpq hidden and locked theres a base file for tilesets that only blizzard can access.
Its probably something like UVs thing for models or even normals and its not being aligned.
Because not being aligned, old wc3 tile system reads every 64x64 pixel of resolution on ground texture and it show seams…
This limits the art alot.
Anyway modding community found a way to make it less visible.
We use 128x128 base samples on 512(1024)x512 wc3 tile panel, then do some tehnical ,hacks, in photoshop (i will not explain it here)

Basically if i take heroes of the storm ground texture which is for example 512x512 in source,i will not be able to just paste it on wc3 tile panel.

I will have to cut 128x128 piece, make it seamless. Then draw every 128x128 on source to share same edges,so they all become seamless.
This destroy the original structure of a ground texture, and leave repeatable patterns on the texture.
And ye…It destroys original art too…

Reforged beta tilesets look like it was creataed for old wc3 tile system testings…
I am really suprised they didnt fix it yet…its weird…

When i opened Reforged tilesets and examined, then i remembered that Pete Stilwell interview where he said they tested old system and whatever they did they werent satisfy, and they will invent some new system.( i dont know how they will do it cause of custom games, the only way i see is to find that locked file and align it…)

His words and my examination made me create a delusional theory about secret art patch we might face just before the release…
But, i been officialy said and got confirmation : Art is set in stone…
its over folks, this is what it is…We can just whine and treat with refunds…

Also, about wc3 cliffs their model files mdx are not seamless they are badly sculpted.
They need to be sculpted all over again and become seamless

Please do improviments to the Terrain! And to the Graphics too! For better Lighting and Shadows!

I really doubt that they will not improve the terrain at all, something must be done, but of course they have the problem to keep compatibility with old w3…

If they doesn’t get any solution to improve/compatibility, maybe they can keep a lower terrain and old tileset system for old w3 maps, and create a parallel only reforged mapset with improved smooth tileset and high poly sculptured terrain.

still gonna keep my fingers crossed, maybe they have artists working on this. If not I have no idea what is going on considering all their environment artist job openings require years of experience and shipped AAA games.

Compatibility still a issue? I think they fixed that but lets wait and see ^^

god I hope they fix it so much

wtf.
The poly from terrain is horrible, that explain a lot.

Now they need to bring improvements to the terrain! There is still time to fix it i hope!

There are only this week tuesday patch and the next week patch, and that’s it! the after tuesday is 28th, so as the actual state of the beta I think that they will only focus in solve fps drops, connection issues and the old and new bugs that appears in the current patch, so I don’t think that they will have the time now to improve the terrain now prior launch… maybe in future patches… maybe

Game already are running smooth, please focus in the improviment in the graphics! look at that comparison!
