I have been replaying the campaign recently, and noticed a good amount of gamebreaking bugs. Here are major examples I found:
In the Night Elves mission “Ruins of Dalaran”, The Nature’s Blessing upgrades is bugged. You can buy it instantly, but nothing happens. and you can keep buying it to waste more money.
In the Undead mission “The Dark Lady”, the side quests cannot be completed. Possessing the ogre lord and the bandit lord, does not finish the quest, and it doesn’t automatically convert the rest of their army.
Is there we can play on an older patch where these bugs aren’t present? I just want the campaign.
that depends on how you purchased the game. if you got it on disc, you could just install it from disc. if you got it digitally, you are restricted to the latest patch.
You can download older version of Warcraft 3 from private custom games communities like:
ENT gaming (1.3 0.1patch), iCCup (1.26), ranked gaming(1.26) and 09game(1.24 + chinese version)
I think even on hiveworkshop they uploaded somewhere older patches (google for it)
By the way it is a good habit (I do this since patch 1.27) to make a backup of your game before you download a new patch because you never know what things they will break next.
stop^^ my 1.01 project are only custom melee maps that try to get close to patch 1.01 as possible. it’s still played on the latest war3 client and does not include campaign!
it’s not that I maintain a old client.
Overall I kindly ask you to not mention it further until I release my first testing maps or I release more information about it once it’s ready enough to do so
If you already own the game, I see no problems with downloading a patch for it. The problem would be if they were offering the ENTIRE game and not just the patch for download.
I highly doubt anyone with any actual knowledge of how patch mirrors work would have recommended downloading the entire game off a pirate website.
If you have the actual game legally, you can find patch mirrors on other websites to patch your game to the version you want. I’m reasonably certain they require you to own the game first anyway.
as i said, the patches is free so, if you install an old version that you already have and patch it up, then it is ok. if you however download a pre-patched version from anywhere other than battle.net then, it is piracy.
