After a few days playing the game, I thought I’d offer up my thoughts on what I’ve noticed so far, what lore issues I spotted, and suggestions for the game. As someone who modded this many years ago, and starting again now, all my comments will be focused on easy-to-fix content. As I play the game, I’ll update this with more:
World Editor
- Animations:- This is a broad suggestion, but granting cinematic animations to more models would be very useful for mods. For example, giving the cinematic animations for Evil Arthas to the Female Death Knight model, Sylvanas cinematic anims to Jenalla Deemspring, or Footman cinematic animations to Swordsmen.
- Open/Saving Files:- You can open Campaign Map files, but currently you cannot save over them. I suggest giving us the ability to do so, but if we do a vanilla backup is made that can be restored at any time.
- Object Editor:- If you give the ability Tornado (Slow Aura) an icon, it doesn’t show ingame.
- Object Editor:- If you try to revert the Demolisher to the Reign of Chaos catapult model, it won’t change.
- Object Editor- Siege Engine TFT model does not change to the Steam Tank from ROC unless you put in the exact pathway which is Units\Creeps\WarCart\WarCart
- Object Editor- The Steam Tank model should be added to the Unit window when searching for models, rather than as a hidden model.
- Object Editor- The Flying Machine, Priest, and Sorceress do not revert back to the Reign of Chaos models/skins/icons.
- Object Editor- It would be useful to add an option for Heroes to tick/untick that gives the model a team-coloured aura at its origin attachment point. This would allow map-makers to create their own heroes without needing to import models.
- Object Editor:- World of Warcraft has many icons that would be very beneficial to have in the world editor under a WoW category.
- Object Editor:- Additionally, I suggest the same with some WoW music to help with customising our maps.
- Object Editor:- The Entangled Goldmine is set to use the UndeadConstructionLoop sound when being built, rather than the correct NightElfGrowingLoop.
- Object Editor:- Hidden icons and models should be added to the lists when selecting units. Though they were once fun easter eggs to discover, these days its a pain to have to locate them using filenames.
- Preferences:- Please add a tickbox that lets a person see cinematic animations inside World Editor. This will make cutscene modding much simpler.
General Warcraft 3 Reforged Issues & Suggestions
- Audio:- The dryad line “I’ll attract the enemy with my human call: I’m so wasted! I’m so wasted!” no longer plays.
- Local Files:- Though you can replace most parts of the game using local files, it is not possible to do this for campaign maps.
- Models:- Both Units\Nightelf\Ballista\Ballista.mdx and Units\Nightelf\Ballista\BallistaOld.mdx have the glaive thrower model, obviously an oversight when uploading the files.
- Models:- MalFurionNoStag.mdx is using a model with a Stag in it. This is obviously an oversight as MalFurionNoStag_Portrait.mdx contains the No Stag model.
- Music:- There is a lot of fantastic music in WoW that could be ported into the game for use by map makers.
Reforged Prologue - Exodus of the Horde Campaign
- prologue01.w3x:- Consider placing Gar’thok and Nazgrel as non-interactive units in the Orc camp, this will help set them up as characters for Rexxar’s campaign.
- prologue01.w3x:- There are two orc Barracks in the orc camp, consider replacing one with the War Mill to give it a more interesting feel.
- prologue01.w3x:- The village could do with an update to make it feel more alive.
- prologue01.w3x:- Perhaps to include a single Shaman in village, so that every Orc unit for the Horde is visible (excluding heroes & wyverns). Shaman wouldn’t be used by the player, but there as decoration.
- prologue01.w3x:- More wildlife could be added to the map to make it feel more alive.
- prologue02.w3x:- A grunt often speaks to Thrall. You could give Thrall his own “Captain” like Arthas has, by changing the speaking grunt to Gar’thok. Their voices aren’t quite the same, but if it’s pitch was reduced slightly, then it’d be close enough.
- prologue02.w3x:- Involves Lordaeron troops. Though unlikely to happen, Lordaeron in Wc2 used the White team colour (team 23), this could be used in these missions.
- prologue02.w3x:- Mission expansion possibility here, instead of immediately setting sail when Grom shows the ships, there could be a playable element to attack a nearby port. When it’s taken, the sailing away cutscene happens.
- prologue03.w3x:- A grunt speaks to Thrall. You could change the grunt to Gar’thok.
- prologue03.w3x:- Priests use Blood Elf skins.
- prologue03.w3x:- Consider replacing priests with the Chaplains from the Rexxar campaign for consistency.
- prologue03.w3x:- Involves the nation of Kul’tiras but they use the blue team colour. Change colour to Emerald for lore accuracy.
- prologue03.w3x:- Uses Lordaeron Summer tileset, but mission is set near Maelstrom, which is tropical. Consider changing tileset to Sunken Ruins, with trees replaced by Ruins Tree Wall.
- prologue03.w3x:- Consider using Ashenvale Rain (Heavy) as this provides a lot more atmosphere.
- prologue03.w3x:- 10 lines of audio have been deactivated that detail a run-in with Defend using humans and a group of Trolls. No idea why.
- prologue03.w3x:- Archmage currently uses a generic name, which means you can kill him here and see him pop up elsewhere. Creating a name specifically for him would make him seem more important.
- prologue04.w3x:- A grunt speaks to Thrall sometimes. You could change the grunt to Gar’thok.
- prologue04.w3x:- Involves the nation of Kul’tiras but they use the blue team colour. Change colour to Emerald for lore accuracy.
- prologue04.w3x:- 8 lines of audio have been deactivated, most of which were tied to speaking to different humans/grunts.
- prologue05.w3x:- A Raider speaks to Thrall in the intro. You could change the Raider to Nazgrel.
- prologue05.w3x:- Involves the nation of Kul’tiras but they use the blue team colour. Change colour to Emerald for lore accuracy.
- prologue05.w3x:- Uses the Lordaeron Summer tileset but mission is set near the Maelstrom. Changing this to the Sunken Ruins tileset and replacing the trees with Ruin Tree Wall really improves the mission.
- prologue05.w3x:- Consider using Ashenvale Rain (Heavy) as this provides a lot more atmosphere.
- prologue05.w3x:- Two lines of audio have been deactivated, one about a shaman, another from a Troll asking to join your group.
Reforged Human - The Scourge of Lordaeron
- human01.w3x:- Lorewise Lordaeron troops wear white, according to Wc2.
- human01.w3x:- Consider keeping the two Silver Hand footmen as pale blue when they join you after the opening cinematic.
- human01.w3x:- Turning the two villagers that “get their swords” and become footmen into Peasants, and letting them turn into permanent Militia would demonstrate the Call to Arms mechanic early.
- human01.w3x:- The “get your swords” scene could be turned into a mini-cutscene.
- human02interlude.w3x:- Priests and Sorceresses use the Blood Elf icon & skin instead of High Elf.
- human03.w3x:- Captain Falric is labelled only as “Captain” during the cutscenes.
- human03.w3x:- Priests use the Blood Elf icon & skin instead of High Elf.
- human04.w3x:- Priests use the Blood Elf icon & skin instead of High Elf.
- human04.w3x:- Priests use the Blood Elf skin instead of High Elf.
- human05.w3x:- Lorewise Captain Falric was present here, but isn’t ingame. Adding him to Arthas’ starting units wouldn’t be very difficult.
- human05.w3x:- Priests and Sorceresses use the Blood Elf icon & skin instead of High Elf.
- human06.w3x:- Stratholme’s zoo is missing from the Reforged map.
- human06.w3x:- Many lines of dialogue from peasants are turned off.
- human06.w3x:- Priests and Sorceresses use the Blood Elf icon & skin instead of High Elf.
- human07.w3x:- The Arthas line “It’s me, old friend. It’s been a long time.” is mean to play during the cutscene where you save Muradin.
- human07.w3x:- Priests and Sorceresses use the Blood Elf icons instead of High Elf.
- human07.w3x:- Gyrocopters use TFT stats, model, name and icon. Aka, they’re Flying Machines when they should be Gyrocopters.
- human07.w3x:- Steam Tanks use TFT stats, model, name and icon. Aka, they’re Siege Engines when they should be Steam Tanks.
- human07.w3x:- Captain Marwyn is labelled only as “Captain” during the opening cutscene.
- human08.w3x:- In Wrath of the Lich King, the “Emissary” is shown to have been a High Elf rather than a human.
- human09.w3x:- Captain is only labelled as Captain, but he should be either Luc Valonforth, Marwyn or Falric.
- human09.w3x:- Captains Falric, Luc Valonforth, and Marwyn should all be present here.
- human09.w3x:- Priests and Sorceresses use the Blood Elf icons instead of High Elf in World Editor, ingame it seems to vary between Blood Elf and High Elf.
- human09.w3x:- Gyrocopters use TFT stats, model, name and icon. Aka, they’re Flying Machines when they should be Gyrocopters.
- human09.w3x:- Steam Tanks use TFT stats, model, name and icon. Aka, they’re Siege Engines when they should be Steam Tanks.
- human09.w3x:- Consider changing music from Dark Agents.flac to LichKingTheme.flac after Arthas claims Frostmourne, to help sell his downfall.
Reforged Undead - Path of the Damned Campaign
- undead01.w3x:- As it’s set against Lordaeron troops, they could use the Wc2 white colour scheme.
- undead01.w3x:- Because Children NPC’s now count as Invulnerable, they can alert the guards and you can do nothing to stop them. Either remove Invulnerability, or replace them with adult Villagers.
- undead02.w3x:- The Arthas line “What the hell is that?” has been inexplicably cut.
- undead03.w3x, undead04.w3x, undead05.w3x:- High Elves are using Glaive Throwers when they should be using Ballista’s. The units stats, model and icon are all incorrect.
- undead03.w3x, undead04.w3x, undead05.w3x:- Consider reusing the Arcane Observatory model as the High Elven Town Hall/Keep/Castle.
- undead03.w3x, undead04.w3x, undead05.w3x:- Blacksmith and Lumber Mill buildings all feel out of place against the High Elven buildings. Models for these would be appreciated.
- undead03.w3x, undead04.w3x, undead05.w3x:- Consider adding Jennalla Deemspring as an easter egg/teaser for her later appearance during the Frozen Throne campaigns.
- undead03.w3x, undead04.w3x, undead05.w3x:- Consider giving Dragon Hawks their TFT abilities (Cloud, Aerial Shackles) to make them more potent.
- undead04.w3x:- Mission update message refers to Magic Vaults as High Elf Altars, leading to player confusion over what to target.
- undead05.w3x:- There are 4 different Arch Mages on the map, though they all use the same Elven Arch Mage model, they all use human names. Among the lore-correct mages that fought here is Grand Magister Belo’vir, but he hasn’t been added.
- undead05.w3x:- High Elf textures could be created for the Blood Elf Lieutenant and Spellbreaker models, to provide the elves with more variety in Silvermoon. If this happened, the Spellbreaker model would require a different moveset, as Spellbreakers arrived later on.
- undead05.w3x:- The Sunwell looked a little bland when I played, it seemed to lack much decoration.
- undead05.w3x:- The ice-bridge is a fantastic model but it seems very small during this mission, but when used in world editor it is a lot bigger. To get across how impressive the ice bridge was, I suggest extending the map boundaries north, copy&pasting the terrain further up and using a much larger bridge to reach across to it.
- undead05.w3x:- Thalorien Dawnseeker & Anasterian Sunstrider both have recorded dialogue in WoW that could be reused for their scenes in this mission.
- undead06.w3x:- Far Seers Mazrigos & Throk’Feroth shouldn’t exist, the Blackrock Clan didn’t return to shamanism, they kept to using Warlocks. Replacing the model with Stormreaver models for these would go someway towards making him feel lore-accurate.
- undead06.w3x:- The Orcs are using Demolishers when they should be using orc Catapults from RoC.
- undead07.w3x:- There are three Arch-mages in this mission that are holding the magic barriers. At the moment, these Mages have random names, but in Frozen Throne these mages are named Fordred Aran, Conjurus Rex & Landazar. Giving these mages those names would be more immersive.
- undead07.w3x:- An additional note about the Arch Mages, in the Alliance Player’s Guide RPG book, Conjurus Rex was said to use powerful defensive spells for his allies rather than aggressive spells.
- undead07.w3x, undead08.w3x:- Consider using the High Elf Barracks model for the Dalaran barracks. At the moment the Human Barracks looks very out of place.
- undead07.w3x, undead08.w3x:- In Hearthstone the Kirin Tor use archers called “Arcane Fletchers” which fire magical arrows at their enemies. Though the name is a bit poor, the idea might work to give them more thematic units.
- undead08.w3x:- For some reason the Sorcerer’s League has been renamed to Alliance Defenders and uses a peach colour, it should use blue.
- undead08.w3x:- Due to the random Arch Mage names, it’s possible to fight Fordred Aran, Conjurus Rex & Landazar, all of whom died in the previous mission according to the lore. Removing their names from the Arch Mages name list for this level would prevent this issue.
- undead08.w3x:- Replace Guard Towers with Dalaran Guard Towers to get the more immersive feel for Dalaran.
- undead08.w3x:- Replace Cannon Towers with Advanced Boulder Towers, as they look the part and deal similar damage.
- undead08.w3x:- In World Editor the various factions are set to different colours (Kirin Tor is Pink, etc), but ingame they are showing different colours. Kirin Tor is blue, for example, when it should be pink.
- undead08.w3x:- The audio in the Archimonde FMV is extremely quiet compared to the rest of the game’s audio.
- undead08.w3x:- There are 7 Archmages in this mission, all of which use the random names but this means you’re likely to fight against archmages that have already died in the previous mission in the lore. Here are some suggested replacements, all of whom are in WoW, in the Warcraft RPG or are known to have died at in the Third War; Aethis Sunreaver (Elf model), Ansirem Runeweaver, Baratea (RPG, female), Dalar Dawnweaver (died at Dalaran), Karlain, Modera (female) Relios the Relic Keeper, Thalen Songweaver (Elf model), Ulrik von Stromhearth
Reforged Orc - The Invasion of Kalimdor Campaign
- orc01.w3x:- A grunt often speaks to Thrall. You could change the grunt to Gar’thok. For reasons why, see prologue section.
- orc01.w3x:- Thrall’s skills & items from the Exodus of the Horde no longer transfer over. He starts at level 1 instead of near level 5.
- orc02.w3x:- A grunt speaks to Thrall in the intro. You could change the grunt to Gar’thok.
- orc02.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
- orc02.w3x:- Centaur Sorcerer is female in Reforged, it should be called Centaur Sorceress.
- orc03.w3x:- A grunt speaks to Thrall in the intro. You could change the grunt to Gar’thok.
- orc03.w3x:- There are two generic named Arch-mages in this mission. If they are supposed to survive the mission, then Theramore NPC names could be used, such as Horace Alder (Mage Trainer) and Archmage Tervosh.
- orc03.w3x:- Alternatively, one of the Archmages could be named Xylem, who is a human archmage in Kalimdor in WoW.
- orc03.w3x:- There is a generic named Mountain King in this mission. If he is meant to survive the mission, then Theramore NPC names could be used, such as Torq Ironblast.
- orc03.w3x:- There is a generic Paladin in this mission, if he is meant to survive the mission, then Theramore NPC names could be used, such as Brother Karman, who is a Paladin Trainer in WoW.
- orc03.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
- orc04.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
- orc04.w3x:- There is some evidence (the Crystal Ball) that this mission might involve Astranaar from WoW. If that turns out to be true (ask Blizzard lore guys!) then the map could be altered slightly to make one of the Night Elf settlements into Astranaar.
- orc05.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
- orc06.w3x:- Centaur Sorcerer is female in Reforged, it should be called Centaur Sorceress.
- orc06.w3x:- The Gryphon Riders of the “Kul Tiras Elite Corps” use the blue team colour when lorewise they should be using Green/Emerald.
- orc06.w3x:- “Orc Scout” has been inexplicably renamed to Raider.
- orc06.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
- orc06.w3x:- There are two generic named Arch-mages in this mission. If they are supposed to survive the mission, then Theramore NPC names could be used or a new name created.
- orc06.w3x:- There is a generic named Mountain King in this mission. If he is meant to survive the mission, then Theramore NPC names could be used or a new name created.
- orc08.w3x:- Demolishers are in the mission instead of Catapults.
Reforged Night Elves - Eternity’s End Campaign
- nightelf03.w3x:- Tharifas is included in the mission but has no content. This was in the original WC3 too, but it’d be nice to see this restored.
- nightelf03.w3x:- Ballista’s have been replaced by Glaive Throwers
- nightelf03.w3x:- Glaive Thrower Vorpal Blades are available to upgrade but shouldn’t be.
- nightelf04.w3x:- The mission is set “deep in Winterspring Valley”, but we know that Winterspring is a winter wonderland. It’s terrain should be changed to the Lordaeron Winter tileset, and change the trees to the snowy trees.
- nightelf04.w3x:- Ballista’s have been replaced by Glaive Throwers
- nightelf04.w3x:- Glaive Thrower Vorpal Blades are available to upgrade but shouldn’t be.
- nightelf05.w3x:- Three skeletons are explicably labelled as Watchers.
- nightelf06.w3x:- Ballista’s have been replaced by Glaive Throwers
- nightelf06.w3x:- Glaive Thrower Vorpal Blades are available to upgrade but shouldn’t be.
- nightelf06interlude.w3x:- We know that the Dark Portal is vastly bigger than it’s presented in the cinematic, consider doubling its size to get this across.
- nightelf06interlude.w3x:- The “death of Medivh” section of the flashback would be improved by adding a proper model of Anduin Lothar, Khadgar and Garona, including some of the dialogue from the book The Last Guardian.
- nightelf06interlude.w3x:- There are green dragons in the flashback to the Warcraft 2 era, but the Horde used red dragons.
- nightelf07.w3x:- For some reason the Chimaera unit is unavailable for this mission and it was the same in the classic campaigns too. This makes it the only Melee unit unavailable in an RoC campaign. This should be amended.
- nightelf07.w3x:- There are issues caused by using the TFT ruleset, such as Doomguards & Felstalkers costing food where they didn’t during ROC, which affects the AI enemy spawns.
- nightelf07.w3x:- Ballista’s have been replaced by Glaive Throwers
- nightelf07.w3x:- Glaive Thrower Vorpal Blades are available to upgrade but shouldn’t be.
- nightelf07.w3x:- In the canon, a night elf bodyguard was assigned to Jaina called Pained. She could be represented as a Watcher (sentinel without mount, basically), and assigned to the human faction.
- nightelf07.w3x:- A human warrior called Halford Wyrmbane in WoW was involved in the battle of Mount Hyjal. He is a general in WoW, so is of some prominence. Showing him as a named Captain would be a nice nod to that lore.
- nightelf07.w3x:- Gar’thok & Nazgrel could be added to the Orc base without imbalancing it, I would expect. A named Grunt could also represent Broxigar, another lore character of some importance but who was just a warrior on the field.
Reforged Sentinels - Terror of the Tides Campaign
- nightelfx01.w3x:- It could be argued that as the Watchers are the main force during these missions they should have access to the Watcher units found in nightelf05.w3x
- nightelfx02.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx03.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx04.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx04.w3x:- The sound file MaievWarcry1.flac doesn’t play during the cutscene subtitles appear for.
- nightelfx05.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx06.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx07.w3x:- It could be argued that Maiev should have access to the Watcher-themed units found in nightelf05.w3x.
- nightelfx08.w3x:- The sasquatch base has huts that are named “Furbolg Huts”. These should be changed to “Sasquatch Huts” for this mission.
Reforged Human - Curse of the Blood Elves Campaign
- All:- Rommath, an important lore character from WoW, is said to have travelled with Kael’thas throughout this entire campaign. It might be a good idea to give him a special unit with that name, much like how Arthas in the first human campaign has his own captains.
- humanx02.w3x:- When finishing constructing a building the Peasant “Job’s Done” plays, rather than the Blood Elf Engineer equivalent of this line.
- humanx03.w3x:- The Blood Elf lieutenants could be named to make them feel more interesting. Theoretically Rommath could be one of these.
- humanx03.w3x:- When the 4 ghost Archmages spawn, two of them spawn looking off somewhere else. It would look more impressive if they spawned looking at Kael before teleporting.
- humanx03.w3x:- At the moment three of these mages look the same as each other, but we have several mounted mage models in Reforged. Perhaps some of those could get the ghost treatment to make each mage more unique. These living models could also be reused in undead07.w3x.
- humanx03.w3x:- Providing a single line for each ghost mage before killing them could be interesting and give even a hint at what the Kirin Tor thought of Kael or what the mages went through in undeath.
- humanx04.w3x:- Some of the Night Elves are labelled as Sentinels, but all the night elves present lorewise were Watchers.
- humanx04.w3x:- It could be argued that as the Watchers are the main force during these missions they should have access to the Watcher units found in nightelf05.w3x
- humanx04interlude.w3x:- The music volume is too loud, or the dialogue volume is too low, especially during the Kil’jaeden flashback.
- humanx05.w3x:- Scout/Guard/Cannon towers should be replaced with High Elven Towers, Sky-fury Towers and Earth-fury Towers.
- humanx05.w3x:- The fel orcs are using Red Dragons, this does not match with the lore. They should really be using Nether Drakes.
- humanx06.w3x:- Rend and Main are present in this mission, but lorewise they’re on Azeroth at the time. Two random Orc names would do to make this lore accurate. NB- I might have been mistaken on this, this is the only note that I remembered from the original but forgot to check ingame.
Reforged Undead - Legacy of the Damned Campaign
- undeadx01.w3x:- The Priests & Sorceresses are blood elven, but Jenalla Deemspring is High Elven. At this point in the story, the Blood Elves have already been ostracised from the Alliance. It might make more sense to have these as high elves, as there were still high elves in the alliance at the time.
- undeadx01interlude:- A banshee talks to Arthas. During WoW and novels there is a banshee called Sharlindra who serves as a lieutenant of Sylvanas. The Banshee could be named after her. To differentiate her from banshees (much like how Captains were from Footmen), she could use the Ghost or Wraith models.
- undeadx02.w3x:- Same as above about the Banshee that could be named Sharlindra.
- undeadx02interlude:- Same as above about the Banshee that could be named Sharlindra.
- undeadx03.w3x:- Same as above about the Banshee that could be named Sharlindra.
- undeadx05.w3x:- Same as above about the Banshee that could be named Sharlindra. She appears in the final cinematic when speaking with Garithos.
- undeadx07a.w3x:- The Siege Engine should really use the Steam Tank model. This is because the Siege Engine was created after the Dwarfs went to Northrend, so the survivors wouldn’t have access to them, they’d still have Steam Tanks.
- undeadx07a.w3x:- There are audio files for a dwarf axeman, but these don’t play.
- undeadx07a.w3x:- The dwarf axemen don’t seem to be used either. Nor have their own model.
- undeadx07b.w3x:- Nerubians were the creators of the Obsidian Statues, according to WC3 lore. Might be worth adding one or two of those to their forces.
- undeadx08.w3x:- There are unused triggers for small earthquakes that might be interesting to restore, even if the time between the shakes was increased.
- undeadx08.w3x:- There are more lines for the final Arthas-Illidan conversation that were cut but could be restored.
Reforged Horde - The Founding of Durotar
- orcx01.w3x:- A grunt has a speaking part in the gates of Orgrimmar when you first visit. There are many named Orc Grunts in WoW, I suggest picking one such as; Korf, Logmar or Maug.
- orcx01.w3x:- When the Orc camp is attacked by Kul’tiras soldiers there are some footmen corpses, yet these use Red team colour when they should be using the green colour of Kul’tiras.
- orcx01.w3x:- There are flags at the Kul’tiras base that should be green rather than blue.
- orcx01_04.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx02.w3x:- In the scene where an ogre first appears at Vol’jin’s camp asking for help the Ogre has no name during the cutscene, but afterwards he is labelled as Crol’ka. He should be labelled as Crol’ka during the cutscene too.
- orcx02_02.w3x:- This is supposed to be set in Dustwallow Marsh, but it looks nothing at all like it does in WoW. It looks barren for a marsh.
- orcx02_02.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx02_03.w3x:- The Archmages use the names of some of the characters that had died in earlier campaigns. I believe some of the paladins do too.
- orcx02_03.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx02_04.w3x:- This is supposed to be set in Dustwallow Marsh, but it looks nothing at all like it does in WoW. It looks barren for a marsh.
- orcx02_04.w3x:- Ogre’s are using Draenei huts. In Classic they had mushroom huts that fit their theme, but the draenei models really do not look suitable.
- orcx02_04.w3x:- There aren’t many one-headed Ogres in the Stonemaul Camp. Perhaps these could be named after some of the WoW Stonemaul clan members, for example; Do’gol, Oggmar, or Tharg.
- orcx02_04.w3x:- There aren’t many two-headed Ogres in the Stonemaul Camp. Perhaps these could be named after some of the WoW Stonemaul clan members, for example; Brogg, Draz’Zilb, or Swar’jan.
- orcx02_05.w3x:- In WoW Mulgore is a green, pleasant land and is considered beautiful, but in Reforged it is still a barren waste that is called beautiful. This should be amended so it looks the way it does in WoW, or at least closer to it. Using Lordaeron Summer would work well.
- orcx02_05.w3x:- The exclamation point attachment sits in the middle of Tagar’s log weapon, making it difficult to see.
- orcx02_05.w3x:- Tagar and Bovan Windtotem could do with getting unique models.
- orcx02_06.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx02_06.w3x:- In the final cutscene the Scout Towers are tiny, which looks bizarre compared to the rest of the campaign.
- orcx02_07.w3x:- In this map is the Mistress of Shadows and her six Maidens of Shadows. Judging by the map, the location, etc, it is very reasonable to assume these are not meant to be high/blood elves but Highborne Night Elves, who are active in that region. It might be worth replacing their model for the Night Elf Runner, as she looks vaguely magical, or with the Night Elf Warden/Assassin model.
- orcx02_07.w3x:- Regarding the above, a simple retexture to make their skin and hair Night Elven would do the trick.
- orcx02_09.w3x:- There are various Infernals of different levels, but they are all named Infernal. Perhaps different level Infernals could get different names to denote their power. Some names from lore, WoW and Hearthstone include: Blazing Infernals, Dread Infernals, and Abyssals.
- orcx02_10.w3x:- The Outland Arena loading screen shows a map of the Barrens. I think it makes more sense to show a map of Outland.
- orcx03a.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx03b.w3x:- There are Blood Elf Sorceresses with the expedition, but we know the Blood Elves were kicked out at this point. There were high elves with them lorewise, so they should use the High Elf skins.
- orcx03b.w3x:- There is empty space in the northwest and southeast of the map. Though the player is unlikely to go to either of those locations, I imagine something could be added there, even if it was just some Naga Creeps or something.
- orcx03b.w3x:- There are blue flags, which I suppose aren’t entirely incorrect as Theramore is part of the Alliance, but with Kul’tiras in charge it feels like it should carry the Kul’tiras flag and colours.
Theoretical Story Additions
There is a wealth of story information available for Warcraft at the time of WC3. Here are some scenes that could be added to flesh out the existing campaigns a little without removing content:
- Thrall Consults the Spirits:- “But Thrall was hesitant to put his trust in a stranger. He consulted the elemental spirits of fire, earth, air and water for answers. Their response was urgent and immediate: Trust the stranger. For a shaman like Thrall, that was all the assurance he needed.” From Warcraft Chronicles Vol. 3 p46. Could work as interlude between prologue01.w3x and prologue02.w3x. As Thrall was voiced by Metzen in every game, there should be a wealth of dialogue to reuse & splice for this sole purpose.
- Arthas Sabotages the Legion:- “The Death Knight worked from the shadows, always careful not to alert the demons of his intent. He subtly influenced the Scourge, sometimes causing the undead to disobey their Legion masters and run amok.” From Warcraft Chronicles Vol. 3 p77. Could work as an interlude early in the Night Elf campaign, so that we see the tensions breaking out between the different factions. This could perhaps be alluded to by ambient demon dialogue or a new mini-cutscene showing the undead disobeying.
