BUG: Power Process Switch off from the Charger when opening Reforged!

Hello, after several updates reinstalls, restart laptop I’ve discovered that every time I load Warcraft III: Reforged on Reforged graphics 1920 x 1080 144Hz, my charger is instantly not recharging my laptop battery. I also checked several different power outputs but it’s not a hardware or electric issue. For some reason it just turn off the charging process and I left with the remaining battery percentage.

That was after latest updates. No other blizzard game causing this problem. How should I fix it?

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060

I’m pretty sure that laptop is capable of running Warcraft III: Reforged but for somewhat reason it just causing this bug…

Try to enable V-sync in-game.

Are power settings, set on maximum performance?

After several things the switch off is still happening. I don’t know what to do anymore. Unplayable

Try disable onboard GPU. You can do this under Device Manager ‘‘graphics card’’ right-click the intel one and disable it.

It’s a bit hard to help without knowing what you already have done, feel free to specify what settings you tried

Well updated all drivers and perform several reinstalls with cleaning registry. I did what you said but all of my games are laggy and unplayable including Reforged. All drivers are updated but it doesn’t solve the problem. My only guess is when in Reforged mode power consuming exceed the charger capabilities. Then It goes with high temperature and the power is automatically switch off preventing laptop to burn out. Several months I said world editor.exe was causing huge overheating

Ye I totally agree, was my theory as well, I’m sorry my suggestion didn’t help. The only thing left I can think of is turning down max fps to 60 on the menu. That way it will limit GPU performance and just may make it so the system doesn’t go into protective mode.

You can always post in Technical Support they might have some other insight that will help.

So you think limit the Minimum and the Maximum FPS to 60 could help?

I do. although it worked on my system, it doesn’t guarantee it will work for you.
But I don’t see anything negative in trying it.

Still not fixed, but I can play on Classic graphics without losing power charging function.

i have encountered this issue before. it is caused by the game requiring more power than the charger provides. you need a better charger.

No I don’t because every new game works fine it’s just reforged causing power issues

warcraft 3 reforged also have an unusual power requirement. it might push your ram beyond what your charger can supply, along with the power use of your cpu and gpu. warcraft 3 reforged often requires above 4 gigabytes of ram in HD mode. you could try SD mode.

have you read my first post? I have 32 GB of RAM. 6 core Intel i7-9750H up to 4,5GHz with turbo and every game I can play on maximum graphics without lags or power overheating. It’s just reforged graphics causing this.

then maybe it is the turbo that causes your pc to use more power. you can however reduce your cpu`s power consumption through power settings. you could start by reducing it to 90% and see if that helps. it it does not, you can keep decreasing. warcraft 3 reforged is extremely power hungry.

Advice: buy another Laptop !
And send this bug to ACER - with charging problems !
My internet also disconnects every day at 23:59 (for 2 min) so I am kicked out from every game; but I am not asking help here for this !

W3 isn’t an optimized game at all. It can draw more power than most modern games despite looking simplistic even with reforged graphics. The charger goes in protection mode because it draws too much current. When that happened to me (not directly related to W3) I just bought another power adapter with the same voltage, more current and the same plug (obviously) and the problem solved. Nowadays laptops are sold with underpowered adapters, not sure why.

laptops is likely sold with underpowered adapters to cut costs. that is my theory anyway.
