seems that the problem have been reported before but, it is still present. only the first town hall have call to arms available.
This isn’t a bug…
That’s not a bug, it has always been that way. Only the starting town hall allows this. Other town halls must be upgraded to Keep to get the call to arms ability.
Although I did not know until this thread, it is even mentioned in the classic BattleNet guide.
http://classic.battle.net/war3/human/units/militia.shtml
Militia can only be created from a player’s starting Town Hall, but they can be created from any of the player’s Keeps or Castles. If you want to use Militia to defend an expansion you will have to upgrade it to Keep.
in the classic warcraft 3: all towns halls had it. it only in reforged that only the first town hall have it.
That’s not correct. Reforged did not change this. It is, as noted by the poster above, even mentioned in the original official game guide. Town halls other than the one you start with must be upgraded in order to use call to arms.
i have played the game a lot and every time, call to arms have been available in every town hall.
This is not a bug.
You were probably playing custom maps “every time”. The rules on custom maps are different.
This is not a bug.
You should follow your own advice and stop posting when you are drunk.
i never drink alcohol, as my tolerance for it is super low. i even get drunk if i drink water and get a hangover from potato chips. call to arms only works in the first town hall at the moment, even in custom games. why am i attacked? if someone else posted it it would fet respect but, people keep picking on me. why?
At least for my own part, this is not an attack.
You are advocating for Blizzard to change something that is not a bug and is not broken. The function of Call to Arms is the same and has been for 18 years:
- On a map with Game Data Set: “Melee (latest patch)” in the World Editor, that map will see Call to Arms only available on the first Town Hall. You can see this by making an empty map in the World Editor and setting the “Scenario → Map Options” setting called “Game Data Set” to be the “Melee (latest patch)” value. After setting this setting, your Object Editor will update and the Town Hall unit type (
'htow'
) will not have theCall To Arms (Town Hall)
ability'Amic'
on its ability list. Instead, in this game mode, the script fileScripts\Blizzard.j
will add'Amic'
to the first player town hall as part of the code inside theMeleeStartingUnitsHuman
function. There is literally a function call tocall UnitAddAbilityBJ('Amic', townHall)
on that function. This is very intentional. - On a map with “Game Data Set” changed to “Custom”, the behavior is different. On those maps, if you set that setting in the “Scenario → Map Options” and then go to the Object Editor to the Units menu and look at the Town Hall unit type
'htow'
you will see that the unit type has the skillCall To Arms (Town Hall)
('Amic'
) meaning that all Town Halls – whether the first or not – will have this skill.
So, in this thread, people are not picking on you. It is not personal. Rather, you are advocating that the developers of this game change something that isn’t broken. We now live in a world of limited development time. Someone at Blizzard may see this thread. They may try to investigate the problem to help you. The more time that they spend doing that, the more time that they waste because there is nothing broken in this case and this part of the game has been the same for 18 years.
So, your ignorance is risking using up resources on this game that might have been used for something actually useful. That is why we push back against it. This is not a personal “picking on you,” but rather a desperate attempt to save time and help prioritize legitimate issues with this game technology versus red herrings where nothing is wrong – like this entire thread.
As the old adage says:
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
well it’s because you keep insisting on something that isn’t true, I’ve played War3 on and off since the original beta of RoC, and it has, as far as I can recall, always only worked on starting town halls. This was a deliberate balancing decision such that expansions would not come with free defenses, they need tower defense or player involvement to defend them unless you choose to upgrade them.
telling you that you’re misinformed is not picking on you, it’s merely stating a fact. No one was trying to attack you.
please stop spreading misinformation on the forum.
https://liquipedia.net/warcraft/Call_to_Arms
call to arms has only been on starting town halls since patch 1.13.
i did not know that, as i only played humans in very early versions of the game. ever since the frozen throne i almost entirely play undead.
why not research the issue before reporting it as a bug?
