Well I am fine with it having no online support. The topic about this thread is actually to get back 1.31.1 for a better Singleplayer experience.
You mean beside the fact that the game official supports 64 Bit and the resolution whas fixed for native instead of stretched without need for any mod.
Well I like the additional Team Colours for fitting Thematic NPC Mass battles.
It is the first one with adding that English is not Native. My knowledge about computer and OS is limited to how do install things, that Windows 7 whas the WOTLK of Windows with Windows 10 running better for modern games with the sacrifice that many old games are not running anymore. I have never experienced luckily any bugs in the campaings. I just tried to explain you why some people see and wish for old versions back. You started here the arguing why our wish is idiotic and unreasonable for reasons I still not understand.
We merely stated to want a patch from the old game we loved to get back where it ran on the actual supported system the best because as you stated Windows 7 is not supported anymore.
1.31 has UI customization that 1.30 does not have. What kinda crazy person would play 1.30 instead of 1.31? The modding apis on 1.31 are way better.
Personally I’ve started trying to use 1.22 as the source of assets for the emulator. I remember when 1.26 was the thorn in my side that ruined everything and 1.22 was the version that actually supported everything.
But, I get if people do not see things that way. We spent a lot of time on 1.26. Jumping back to 1.26 from newer ones to check for particular changes was a frequent activity for me during the years of the prepatches leading up to Reforged.
Doesn’t 1.31.1 have bugs in the hero AIs? There’s been on and off claims around here that enemy heroes don’t use abilities/spells properly resulting in the general difficulty being reduced.
That was 1.28 or later. But if you can name any campaign bugs that are specific to 1.27 then please say so, because I haven’t found any.
Again if you can name any maps that 1.27 broke then please say so, because I think that was 1.28 and later. The rest of what you’re saying here is essentially that 1.26 got more fan mod or unofficial support. Of course that’s not surprising given that it was the longest running patch, and that could very well make it superior if you care about that stuff. But if 1.27 was the version we had for those years, it’s fair to assume it would have gotten that much fan mod support too.
Otherwise 1.27 is practically identical to 1.26. Though they claimed to have fixed some bugs including a crash caused by chain lightning, and to have improved compatibility with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. By the way, improved compatibility doesn’t mean that people will absolutely have problems running an earlier version of the game, or that such problems can’t be addressed. Just that some problems might happen, even if they’re rare.
That link is mainly for the English version. In his older posts he said he wants German. While he was able to get it mostly German by installing it while Reforged was on his computer, at least one unit still speaks English. Also you have to install the whole game again that way, not through the game’s patching process. He wants Blizzard to release stand alone patches for 1.28 to 1.31.1 for convenience and accessibility.
But it is only available to official download Patches up to 1.27b. The rest are only privatly shared back ups from games where you can get problems if you want the game in the language that whas available back then.
And RoC and TFT are still not F2P because back then whas a backlash, that you needed to buy Reforged to get RoC and TFT keys. And no Reforged is not RoC or TFT. But okay you can stay with 1.26 that is for you the best.
(I feel like I am mid in a DnD Edition war)
Paradox is doing it.
No the company. With Games like Stellaris, Europa Universalis, Crusador King or Battletech from the original creators going video game there you can official download every major patch from them if something of the newer changes is not to your enjoyment.
No they are famous for their Multiplayer part too.
It is easiliy available until 1.27b because until then they used stand alone patchers.
And EU IV has already nearly three dozen patches and Stellaris 18.
And we just ask to get at least the last patch available again.
Another reason why it is interessting, more balance patches and an additional item that whas released. May not be worth for it but you already have your favourite version and you sound like all the other should like it too.
Amen to this post
Who are you to determine what everyone should deem popular or not?
But you are doing illegal downloads from untrusted third parties. It’s a matter of trust. When you do that, you have a higher likelihood of getting a virus. We exist in a world where cyber security is difficult and sometimes incredibly important.
Last time I loaded Minecraft from Microsoft (and it has been a few years) they had a gigantic dropdown list with every version under the sun. These were all multiplayer versions. The point was thay if you join a server “that only plays Patch 1.2” then you have an easy dropdown in the Launcher app that lets you choose version 1.2 or any other version you want.
According to the first hit on Google search, Minecraft is very popular according to your definition:
Minecraft has since been ported to various platforms and become the best-selling video game of all time, with 200 million copies sold across all platforms and 126 million monthly active users as of 2020.
What kinda crazy person would play 1.30 instead of 1.31?
1.31 has numerous issues. Stutter/lagspike and crash issues were widely reported for 1.31 and 1.31.1. Issues, that e.g. 1.30.4 doesn’t have.
UI customization? People have been successfully customizing the UI since like forever, though was more of a hassle, I guess.
And what “modding apis” does 1.31 have, that 1.30 doesn’t?
But you are doing illegal downloads from untrusted third parties.
Downloading an older patch isn’t illegal if you use your own valid CD key. There are legal AND trustworthy Third Parties out there, where people share the older versions (Not talking about piracy).
Not to mention, that people like me for example, just had older versions saved in archives as backup. Still perfectly available and legal.
No. This is a Terms of Service violation. You are advocating users to violate the rules. Since 2002 the Terms of Service clearly stated that you are only permitted 1 additional copy of the game software for backup.
You are in violation. As per the 2002 EULA, Blizzard may require you to delete all of your custom maps at any time.
-
This is not 1 additional copy. This is the same copy with the same CD key and same account.
EDIT: Also, 1 additional copy. Meaning you can have at least two different instances of the game. -
2002 EULA is no longer valid. Replaced with a newer one.
-
Blizzard cannot get me to remove any maps, or the game itself. The most they can do, is ban me from these forums.
But in the 2002 license agreements it says:
So, you’re not reading your agreement, it’s a part of what you agreed to in order to play the legacy game – Blizzard may at their discretion require you to delete all your custom maps.
Actually don’t think it says anything about only being allowed 1 archival or backup copy. Not in my legacy license anyway. You know what it does state though?
I would say that having an older version of the game counts as both “an important step in your utilization of the program” (when it comes to playing that specific version) and for “archival purposes”. By the way it says “archival copies” not “archival copy”, so that even suggests that more than 1 can be created.
The part you quoted actually says that “In such event, you must immediately destroy the Program and any New Materials.” Program meaning the whole game and new materials meaning custom maps. However:
- That requires Blizzard to recognize your non-compliance and terminate the License Agreement.
- That part likely isn’t enforceable, or worth the trouble for that matter. At least not for those who own a legacy disc.
The only DRM they had in legacy was for battle.net. So they could ban you from playing battle.net or at least your current CD key, maybe forbid you from downloading a digital copy associated with that CD key from their website, but not from installing it from your disc, playing single player or making your own maps for personal use. It wouldn’t be worth it for them to try anyway because those things don’t hurt their sales or other users’ experience. Especially now with them not supporting legacy anymore and Reforged “replacing” it.
