Matchmaking: Prioritizes ideal ping over MMR. The matchmaker’s priority will be ping, then MMR, and then after a long wait, it will try to match with anyone.
What happened here? This is clearly not true at all. I just had 4 games with more than 250 ms, despite the games were found in less than 10 seconds. Then my 5th game my opponent left due to high ping. This is actually a repetition of steps from the last time I played.
Nothing really changed pre- and post this patch in regards to the latency. About half of the bnet games people still just leave at the start due to unplayable latency connecting to the other side of the planet…
I have this problem too. But it can start with a good 30-40ms, then after 1-2 min it starting to spike between 150-500ms, and i have checked the resource manager and closed unnecessary apps that drains data.
The question I would have is do you ever get games with ping better than this?
If 250 is the norm and not the exception, then its your location. You’re most likely either getting matched to other people who have been waiting for a while, or you are too far away from any of the server locations. There are servers in the west and east coast of the US, somewhere in Europe (preumably western Europe), Southeast Asia (Korea) and Austrailia.
What would give me a good idea of your situation is a screenshot of the custom game list. If most of the games have a 200+ ping, you have a problem that might not be able to be helped much…
