Blizzard needs to remake Orb of Slow the proper way

Hi, dear blizz…

Its been brought to the attention of custom mapmakers that you have created a new orb item for humans but you did it not by creating a new ability/item but by editting the existing orb of slow instead.

This can result in Custom maps breaking, the classic team that worked on Reforged avoided this issue by creating a new copy of the abilities that they were trying to modify instead of editting the existing ones, this way mapmakers and their custom maps would be unaffected, and Blizzard could go on with their experimentations on abilities and such.

Additional note: As far as you highlighted, you are trying to use ShadowStrike inside Orb of Slow so it can stack with the sorcs slow ability, but now it will instead not stack with the Wardens Shadow Strike Ability. On that note giving 0 value to both Shadowstrike and Soulburn has had a history of crash issues.

I recommend swift action to remedy this.
The solution is to revert this change and create a new slk entry for a new ability. After that you can experiment as you will.

Good points. Here’s hoping Blizzard can fix this!

Yes, it’s really not proper to start modifying existing items/interactions like that without creating a new one instead, the editor supports Editor Suffixes such as (New) which only displays in-editor…

honestly the solution is to just revert the whole thing and maybe buff the orb of fire or something.

Yar, don’t touch the orbs, they be a fickle mistress of great pain and sorrow for all of us. Arg!

would be much better if they make Orb of feedback, like spellbreakes or arcane tower ability
Or Orb of fire, but like phoenix passive ability, to give Am or bloodmage passive damage during they casting blizzard or siphon mana

Yes Blizzard, please heed this plea, do not massacre the custom games community again! :c

This Orb change likely occurred because someone could not envision how to make the Fire Orb viable.
Orb of Fire does not need replacing.
It should again cause splash damage as it originally did, and inflict the healing reduction on all splash damaged units. This could be very useful as it reduces healing scroll effectiveness. The splash radius could also be increased, and do maybe 10 damage with each splash, or a % of the Hero’s damage. The splash damage has synergy with Thunder Clap and Blizzard.
I saw Humans use Pit Lord effectively. If Orb of Fire is restored its splash damage should stack with Cleaving Attack.
The original Orb of Fire had a very small splash radius, and did only 5 splash damage. It understandably needed an improvement.
The splash damage was removed completely and replaced with the healing reduction effect, which is uniquely interesting and should remain.
Please consider preserving the splash damage and the healing reduction.

Everyone would probably enjoy the original Orb of Slow purchasable in the Goblin Merchant, maybe 600 gold or more.
