Balance permanent items

There are items (i think) we all can agree are very unbalance. Ofc luck has a place in warcraft. But sometimes is too extreme. I think that the same camp can give cristal ball or khadgar’s pipe is broke.

Lion horn of stormwind or crystal ball are pretty useless. While khadgar’s pipe of insight is the greatest item ever. The original brilliance aura was so broke that it was nerf twice (or was it more?). Well, khadgar’s pipe of insight is just as broke as brillante aura was. I think crystal ball should have less cooldown, maybe that way it will not be a instant sell. Lion horn of stormwind should be buff to be like devotion aura.

I hate when a top tier match is decided cause one dude got cristal ball while the other got khadgars pipe. I rather see a little less luck involved when lyn, 120, th000, infi or moon face each other.

I dunno I mean it is random but usually it’s not that bad.

Think of times where blademaster gets 4 Crits in a row to kill a hero and wins.

Or on a much smaller level imagine you get all high end hits on your units damage range and that helps you win.

There’s a lot of randomness but to me it seems it usually evens outs enough that it’s worth the variety.

I think they’re already looking into this. Didn’t the last patch nerf Lightning Shield from wands by 10 seconds? That’s a pretty strong nerf.

Its not the same. The chance to have 4 crits in a row is .15^4=0.0005. While the chance of getting a GREAT item and ur oponent getting a VERY bad item is like .17^2 = 0.03 (around 60 time more).

You can argue that u can repeat the experiment ¨attack the with the blade master¨ happens more often, but i dont think i happens 60 times more often than the experiment ¨both players creep a big creep spot¨, but i dont think it happens 60 more times to the odds be even. Moreover, i would say that getting khadgars pipe and my opponent getting cristal ball has in general more impact on the game that getting 4 crits in a row. With the new crit its not even a guaranteed kill (well, maybe it is vs AM).

Im not saying remove the luck. I am saying that atm is wayyyy to much luck involved on big permanent item drops.

ps: lion horn is pretty bad compared for example, with vampiric or true shot. For orcs vampiric = 1 heal scroll per battle (grubbys words, not mines). I dont think making it a little stronger would be bad. Vampiric would be still (in general) better, but by less.

EDIT: And yes, they addressed this issue for items, but for CONSUMABLE. Wand of lighting shield and book of the dead have been nerfed.
