I am glad that they will keep the old voice actors but what about the cutscenes? Are we getting cutscenes like Culling of Stratholme or not, if not it is very disappointing…
Not like the demo. But you have the “old” Cutescene with the new model, new animation, and better camera angle for a better view.
Only this. Is very poor I know but better then “the same with the new skin”.
They are sighly different. But still different.
I don’t see the difference between the Culling Demo and “Cutescene with the new model, new animation, and better camera angle for a better view.”.
For me, we are getting same thing as the Culling demo.
Cutscenes will use reforged models soo…yes, that’s enough to say they are new.
From what I was reading and hearing with the latest update about them rolling back campaign changes to things being more minor, it sounded like the hand animated stuff is out.
Not quite. The Demo Cutescene is a Cutescene where every character have movement ecc like a real cinematic.
The stile reforged will use is the final version is the same they use in Wc3 the model will simply stay there, with a little more animation (and not just raise the hammer, attack animation) but nothing very different from the Cutescene of Wc3 Classic. So The Demo one where Arthas is moving, having interaction with Uther and Jaina like a real cinematic NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
EDIT: the only Cutescene they “reforged” is Arthas vs Illidan. But this is a thing in motion from 2003 because they say “that time we have no time to make the scene like we would love to see it”. So they semplice remade that because they always have in mind to change that.
For consistency sake I would personally rather they just trash all the old pre rendered cinematic scenes and just make ALL of them in game footage with the actual models talking. it would just flow better that way from start to finish.
The models close up look amazing in 4k… if they could just get some of the lighting sorted out, this would be ideal I think.
That’s not what I understood from Polygon’s interview (if this is the source?), they just talked about voice lines that will be same as Classic, but as they talked about changes in the maps, some camera changes, animations, and units moving during an ingame cinematic is not most complicated to do.
At blizzcon they give us 2 Things:
1 Screenshot of Medivh in the 1 mission of the Orcs that is literally the same as the Wc3 one. Same camera angle. New skin, new light but nothing more
2 The Arthas vs Illidan Reforged. A lot more improved like the demo one.
If we get the first a lot of purist will be happy
If we get the second a lot of people will not be happy
(I talk about if ALL the Cutescene receive the same as 1 or 2
The only answer to this is - we don’t know because they’ve been completely silent. Even everything said and done at Blizzcon can only be taken with a grain of salt.
We know cutscenes are being scaled back only because of the Polygon article. Yet we got conflicting information from the Blizzcon panel, which made no mention about those changes and only said they had ‘more than 8 maps’ restyled in the way of the Culling. We don’t actually know what the state of the camera work will be because we see no examples of it. The only example they gave happened to be the completely non-interactive cinematic style cut scene of Arthas facing against Illidan, and that doesn’t tell us much.
Like, what about the first time Arthas and Illidan fight? Will that just be purely two units in game going at it while we watch from above? Or are they planning to give us a bit more than that? It’s anybody’s guess.
From what I can gather, there’s a difference between IN GAME cutscenes, and the cinematics. So we’ll probably get quite a lot of new little animations, camera angles and probably even some new dialogue (going from how many new campaign heroes and units we have) but the CINEMATICS, like Arthas killing his father and Illidan summoning the Naga are just being rendered in 4K.
That’s the format I would like, and from what I can see that’s how it’s going to be. It doesn’t make much sense for them to add a whole bunch of new units to the campaign (see the High Elves) only for them to have everything the exact same but add these new units into the gameplay. For sure they’re going to have these heroes play minor/major roles in the story, to enhance it obviously but not change it.
most of the cutscene will not be in reforge style, since it got cut, but some cutscene that already been made like the cutscene in the culling of startholme will be included cuz its been made. The cutscene that we will get is only classic style cutscene but with diffrent camera angle.
Reforge style cutscene is like movie which the camera point of view normally horizontal to the target, and not from above like the classic cutscene, but maybe they want to cut the cost so it got cut.
Just for an example/comparison of cutscene we will get, ofc with diffrent camera angle and new model, but not reforge style.

We could get new Cutscenes if there was a new voices, byt thanks to our idiots purists - It’s impossible to make a good cutscenes with old Goofy voices
I read again Polygon article :
Warcraft 3: Reforged’s story won’t be retconned by WoW, Blizzard says - Polygon
There is no mention about cutscenes, just about voice lines, so I don’t understand why you say Culling cutscene style has been cut.
Because at blizzcon 2019 they clearly state “we made a step back. We come back to the original Wc3 stile for the Cutescene BUT we have something special for you arthas vs illidan reforged
Can you give me the source because I listened twice to this panel and don’t remember this, except we already know for 1 year that prerendered cinematics are just upscaled and only opening cinematic was redone.

This doesn’t feel as negative, I would say wait to see what they done before complaining of everything.
