Anyway to slide down UI scale and zoom out screen?

The UI is so enormous with the screen locked this zoomed-in making it difficult to launch large scale battles

That is by design. The large UI is a relic of the early 2000s where reducing gameplay view size as much as possible was good for performance. Users cannot be given full control over how far out their camera is because otherwise every pro player would be playing on 4-8k displays with camera zoomed out as far as possible, not a very good viewing experience for an audience watching a live stream.

In custom maps it is possible to use triggers to zoom the camera out further. Many custom maps implement this as a chat command allowing players to customize their camera distance. In relation to the above, most players will use this command to play with the maximum zoom out possible.

It wasn’t about performance, it was about making everything visible on a 800x600 and 1024x768 resolution.

It was for both reasons actually.
Anyway, one of our players was called Cloesd.
Lots of people on 800x600 complaining with “OPEN THE SLOT FFS” before starting games^^

Main Menu UI of the older game is still better imo, design-wise, performance wise and art style of the buttons and so forth.

I was expecting for the Reforged UI to change to atleast look like the older artisitcally when we switched to Classic Mode, position of the buttons don’t really have to change tbh.

Heck would have been cool to switch to Classic Mode, get a UI that has its buttons and the W3 logo look like classic W3 and also have the option to then swamp between the old TFT background or the RoC one.

But looks like Blizzard doesn’t care to do such small fan services.

To some extent it was about performance since only the top part of the screen was drawn to. Under the UI was a big black rectangle. Reforged has changed this with players now having access to the entire screen area should a custom map remove the UI covering it.

Quenchin mod has new UI and also Zoomout for ALL maps even custom games
