Am I one of the few people that likes some of the new models?

Don’t know if I’m going to get berated for asking the question of the topic, but I do like some of the models in the game. I like the acolytes, necromancers, kel’thuzad, and the female version of the death knight looks good.

Archimonde, infernals, the unique models they gave to the named dread lords like Varimathras, Balnazzar, (And kinda fat Detheroc), the succubi look good, I mostly like the fel orc warlocks and kodo’s.

The night elves do look a bit off, but cenarius’s models pretty good, along with the hero wardens (Not Maiev’s model, looks… meh)

Rokhan’s model’s REAL good, especially with the masks, Drek’thar’s model is great, especially with his wolf having a skull mask on it. Shamans, taurens, and grunts are pretty nice and detailed. Guldan’s model’s almost looks like it’s from Wow.

I think the footmen, knights, mortar teams, and the flying machines are very nice looking. I like the unique looks the paladins have from the undead campaign.

I could probably go on-and-on, but you get the point. I can understand why people also prefer the old models since yeah, for the most part, they look TOO realistic. Hell, Arthas’s model looks SO off, especially as a deathknight, the peons look creepy, Vol’jin’s model’s pretty disappointing, and Mannoroth looks like a blotted up frog that’s stuck. And almost all the elves look… derpy. It’s mostly the eyes, I think

So you guys have anything pros and cons to the whole new model thing too?

Well, as I said, people like the old models more cause of the more cartoonish art style the game had. I do agree for a good chunk of the more realistic models, it’s a bit too much. Not to mention a lot of the color had been drained out too in the reforge.

I like the new models, save for the ogres. I don’t know, they just seem too buff or something. They don’t look like the fat clumsy brutes I’m used to.

I think the problem is the models are the only good part of Reforged. And given that the game is a remaster, the new models was a given. It’s all he other advertised content that was cut and even some classic features that were stripped that everyone’s upset about.

all new models are awesome for me … i like them more than cartoony style

As much as some of them might be a contentious topic, the new models are one of the only good sides of Reforged.

Game’s still garbage though compared to the original.

I like the majority of them. The parts about Reforged graphics I dislike are the bad lighting, ground textures and UI. Quenching solves these problems for me for the most part.

I actualy love what they did with graphics and models (not talking about the horrible ui and the laggy menu) but i wish it was like the classic with cool battlenet and custom campaigns.
I still play the classic wc for the custom campaigns but wish i could do it in reforger,

I like the new models aswell - but there is still a problem with readability in multiplayer matches. Especially at night time. Quenching was helpful in this regards. Unfortunateley the newer versions feature a more realistic lightning and makes everything harder to read just like in wc3 reforged. I use Nvidia Freestyle Filters to give everything a different look so i can spot units at a glance. But overall the newer graphics are modern and more pleasing to the eye. To bad they never implemented a feature like outlines around the units and buildings as seen in League of legends. Would be a great visual helper.

Models are fine. I’d prefer the style used in HotS, it’d fit better with original WC3 style, but oh well. BUT these models are far too detailed and proportional to work well with surroundings. If using such models, then landscape, animations, and all the rest of the visuals should’ve been updated to the same level of fidelity – which is impossible on current engine and would raise system requirements to the sky. As a result the game looks messy and ugly.

I actually like the models

I just hate the part where they don’t have an actual naked frame (open Retera Model studio and take off their clothes, hood, armor, etc.) and no you’re not gonna make me extrude their limbs to attach them to their shoulders

Actually the models are fine. It has some things to improve but it really isn’t much. Models are also missing but that’s the fault of blizzard.
The issue is that without cinematics to see them from the front, the models seem disproportionate.

And without conter that the background is bad and makes the models feel out of place.

So to speak the models are an 8/10 and the rest is close to a 3/10 and how that makes the models look bad because they feel out of place.

Hero and units are good 6 to 8 / 10 depends on the race.
But terrain and UI are bad Quenchin mod is a must have for, new models player.

Most of the models are awesome. Problem is:

  • no postprocessing, antializing etc
  • terrain and ambience looks awful and these awesome detailed models just do not fit

You’ve touched on a very good topic.
In general, I often think about it, as I personally visually irritate certain individuals.
Orcs go to the 1st shot.
Thrall as a famous hero looks bad. They could definitely try and at least it should be similar to the one in World of W. Powerful paws and handsome !! : D It’s supposed to be a boar like Garosh! such a madman!
NEXT
Wyverns look bad - peons. The Blade Master is supposed to be like Samuro from the Blizzard ad!

Of people, the hero Paladin is a failure - a gel hairstyle: D
They could make the King of the Mountains bigger somehow. give them me meat.

ORC BITS LOOK HARDLING AND THIS IS IT!

Models are great. Some spell effect are disappointing. But goblin rocket is cool and makes cool ideas for custom games.
I have been trying to get some fresh custom game content to play but hasnt been able to nfinish despite much negative that existed among fans.

Human got one of the best mage Jaina and Paladin the worst lmao.

The models are good. It’s just everything else that’s bad.

In these forums most people like the models actually.
And some other parts in the Discord communities.

But there is a lack of understanding on why was the whole models topic brought up as a negative, to put it short it doesn’t functionally nor artistically serve the game.

On the functional side its horrible because its not very moddable and bumps up the game size, also causes massive performance issues.

On the artistic side it also hardly looks like Blizzard art.

There are also sub sections of these ideas that overlap eachother, for example, one of the major reasons it doesn’t look like Blizzard art and also harms performance is because it overtly depends on the ingame lightning engine.

Where usually Blizzard models don’t need the lightning engine to look good, hence less reliance, hence better performance.

One area it also overlaps function with art is gameplay, in terms of an RTS game the models are not artistically crafted for the purpose and instead they look like something suited for 3rd person action game.

The models are great. Most people play the old models because the game runs faster. My only complain about them is that some still need more work like Jaina and Unmounted Thrall needs animations because in the Editor he only has walk and stand and they need to change groms attack animation because the one he has now look stupid
