Blizzard’s been doing this for a long time now, on all their games. In fact, Blizzard isn’t really a developer. They’re a publisher. The fact that this game is being developed by them is more than what can be said about most of their other games.

Its a shame because Michael vicente, their best environment artist is busy on Heroes of the Storm - they should move him

I dont care who does what as long as they get the job done right. DIrections seem to come form Blizz as to what they actually want. And I am a bit concerned about this reforged including how they mauled the cinematic, they messed up how big stuff is, proportions are way off.

This isn’t new for Blizzard. They have been doing that since WoW at least. The important part is the quality control, so it looks like it was made by a single person. Nothing to be worried about.

Also, Blizzard does have graphical artists, so I’d guess they do some finalizing on the art themselves, so it’s not 100% done by the third party. And then there’s also the question: so what? So what if they outsource it? What does it matter, as long as the final product looks good?

Well, I’m not American, so I don’t, to be honest. But I don’t think the American economy is going to be saved or ruined by Blizzard. Also, the Malaysians need jobs too… :smiley:

They did the exact same thing (with the exact same company) for Starcraft Remastered as well. I don’t see what the big deal is considering that turned out mostly fine.

years ago, when D3 was in the making, a friends university classmate was doing stuff for D3, small stuff like rocks. When it was released, then he was proud to say, that he worked or did this and that rock. :slight_smile: so Blizz was outsourcing obviously to Central Europe (‘eastern’) too even then.

Even Overwatch skins are outsourced.

Lemonsky did Starcraft Remastered graphics so Reforged should be no big surprise.

The problem is they are increasingly stuffing their games up though.

They just mass produce mediocrity now similar to the likes of EA.

It’s fairly natural that they would outsource it. They had to redo every single model, meaning it was as much work as re-creating a new game. Rather than hiring a bunch of artists and then fire them, Blizzard used a studio that had done a good job on Starcraft Remastered and, to be honest, the artists have done a good job here too.

You can argue about the style, “art direction” and whatnot, but while Reforged has a number of problems, the quality of the new models isn’t one of them.
