Any tips on how to defeat the game in the hard difficulty ?
I always get spammed with waves and waves of enemies and sending a whole army usually gets completely wiped without doing any damage, I finished the game in Normal with no issue but I have no luck with hard.
I would appreciate some help, should I spam too ?, which units are good to do it ?
-Spam catapults to quickly destroy the enemy base ?
-Full army of air would work better ?
-Tower the entire base ?
Thanks in advance for the helpful tips

It super depends on the mission and the campaign itself. For example, on the first human campaign, I found that having a healthy amount of sorceress units got me through Hard difficulty much more easily because of their slow spell on autocast. This spell reduces the attack rate and movement rate of enemy units by a decent amount, which increases the effectiveness of your own units against them.
However, in general, making greater use of unit abilities as opposed to just spamming units would help you through hard difficulty.
Siege units on the backline are also quite helpful, so long as you are careful not to let them hurt your own units too much. Currently I am halfway through the first Undead campaign on Hard.

It depends on the mission. I find that taking out where the units are coming from helps a lot in hard mode.
For instance, you can destroy buildings where the spawns are coming from and they stop and it makes the mission a lot easier.
I’ve noticed in Normal they don’t rebuild what you destroy is it the same in Hard ?

They’ve actually ramped up the difficulty in hard mode this time. If you don’t have much knowledge about troop composition and micromanagement and if you just use mouse for almost everything this is going to be very very hard if not impossible.

I had severe issues beating a chapter in blood elf campaign where you control kael and vashj and have to destroy a green undead base. Had to remake my troops 3-4 times and still couldn’t finish that base
Yeah I’ve noticed the same thing
So, you will need to be very careful on Hard difficulty. On Normal difficulty, you can move your injured units back, the AI will re-focus on another unit, and your injured unit can come back in and continue fighting REASONABLY safely without getting killed.
On Hard mode, the AI tends to be smarter and will target your injured units if they come back into the fray. Also…
Good luck. The AI seems to ALWAYS target your siege units first on Hard mode. To the point that they will move past your infantry line to get to your siege first. Hard mode is just plain hard. You need to be good at micro, and also good at picking your army wisely so that your units will counter theirs. Make a note of the attack / armor types and which types counter which. Focus your magic-damage units on their heavy armor units, for example. . . or your normal damage units on their medium armor units.
As others have stated, make plenty of casters and use their abilities wisely and to great effect. . . this will often turn the tide of battle. As well as this, DON’T NEGLECT UPGRADES. Upgrades are very important and will, along with casters, help to give you that edge in battles.

That sounds like a good strategy, how about blocking the siege units with layers and layers of other units, so they can’t get to them ? if the AI goes directly for the siege units, maybe I can use them to lure them while the other units kill them

It’s worth a shot! I’ve never tried this, but it can work. . . although not for every race. Really it’s just human and undead that have cheap, spammable infantry units which can be used to surround.
How goes your escapade through Hard mode in Wc3R?
Tips I’ve picked up from just overall playing the game along with my recent endeavors going through the “ROC” story:
-Micro in WC3R is a bit sketchy to say the least. Unit models don’t seem to match the space they actually occupy in game. Along with actually selecting an individual unit seems to be a bit off at times, could just be extremely rusty.
-I underestimated siege equipment and had many growing pains. Ensure your front line troops are a bit ahead of your siege units before allowing them to launch a volley. If a worker unit (i.e wisp/acolyte/peon/peasant are repairing a structure it is best to ground fire to continue damaging the structure while also killing that unit repairing while your troops engage the enemies). Also ensure to counter battery any enemy siege weapons. Micro over your siege can make or break you.
-Have a rough idea of what you will be doing during the start of the mission. (Build order, unit composition of the enemies, timings of the attacks). You don’t want to allow yourself to be caught with your pants down. I’d recommend waiting for your enemies to strike you first and then counter after the fact.
-When it comes to creeps you can “lure” with a ranged unit and bring them to the point where they start to try returning to their location so you aren’t fighting nearly as many enemies.
-I have found static D helps quite a bit, but it is costly and enemies will b line for them (if your worker unit is trying to repair the towers the ai, similar to a play, will target that worker unit and then continue to kill the tower) Id recommend kiting those enemies around the tower).
-Target fire down casters (easy to kill clumps with a few well placed volleys from your siege weapons)
-MAKE SURE YOU DON’T GET SUPPLY BLOCKED and UPGRADE when you are able.
-Don’t be discouraged by failure. See what it is you are doing, adapt your strategies and overcome. (I did The Culling quite a few times. Nearly won quite a few times until I didn’t pay attention to Arthas where he promptly was decimated by Malganus’ forces before I realized it) after the 10 or so defeats, I breezed through that mission by avoiding him for the most part and leaving about 2-3 knights with a footman support to help protect my base from purple who is relentless in their attacks on your base.
-Ensure when an aoe is hitting your units you attempt to spread them out or at least get out of the impact area.
-If you build static D make sure you space it out so an aoe/few siege shots don’t take out all of your defense simultaneously
-PS do not underestimate how quickly you will be overwhelmed by necros without priests dispel.
P.S. Sorry for the scattered thoughts.
