Years ago, I was all setup playing the classic, non-reforged version, which I repurchased from Blizzard (despite having the original CDs and CD Keys), as a show of support. Soon after, they remotely deleted my software and replaced it with the version that required the battle.net launcher app and an internet connection, in order to open the app. Now, having lost the ability to play while offline, it seemed pointless not to purchase reforged when it was released. fast forward and they’ve done the same thing again. remotely removed the game from my computer and have made the required files inaccessible.
tickets and game master contact may as well be automated. its like they don’t even read the ticket. replies are in regards to other game titles, issues completely unrelated, and absolutely zero direct response to my question: where’d my game go and how do I get it back?
my gut tells me this is their way of eliminating their Mac-user player base, without the massive impact a direct notice to all consumers, at the same time, would likely cause.
so take this as your notice.
they will eventually do the same thing with WoW.
sucks. im gonna go live in the woods peace
edit: ps. if it wasn’t clearly implied. I believe this is an intentional and permanent lockout, a single branch of the large scale plan to whittle down the number of Mac players, so impact is disbursed over time, and poorly documented and advertised.
I think its possible to get it working on mac if you have the executable, update to the latest broken wc3, then copy the executable back in. Havent tried it yet though.
This right here is one of the most frustrating things. Why even bother having people answering if they can only copy a useless script. Also the whole “we took away a product you bought but you can’t get a refund”.
A patch removed the files needed to launch the game. Support may mention that a problem is the result of a patch, but they likely wouldn’t give details on what the underlying cause is.
As Bliz stated when it first happened, wait for them to fix it. This is something Support will tell you.
Which is when you resubmit it. This will get you past the automated templates to reach a person. It could take more than one resubmit, but it will eventually reach a person.
That said, all that person is going to tell you is that Bliz is aware and is working on it. Support can’t fix this because they are neither developers nor progammers, which is who are needed to fix a problem like this.
If you select the Public Test Realm < Game version ( on the BN screen) the game will launch. Although all you get is the Blizzard intro, and setting options. I bought the Game on the 25th of OCT 2024. and found this situation. Ive Tried to notfiy Thor, Asmond, and Moist. If you want a responce or movement on this matter. Lets stop spamming Blizz. thats a brick wall. spread the news to the bigger YT accounts that have followings shed light through them we are contained in these forums. Im screen shooting this and screen recording incase I get banned for utilizing our first Amendment. (Im just stating facts of how this was handled and th situation by asking YT’ers to just check out the fourms for Mac WC3. its free content and hopfully get things moving. I stated yesterday I had an I dea on another thread. this is it.
It’s a shame this hasn’t been fixed yet. I had signed up to Warcraft Gym Newbie League Season 15 but haven’t been able to play a single game. I also missed the golden month of Direct Strike renaissance due to this.
I asked for a refund and was told I was no eligible with a copy paste of there policy, zero analysis of the situation and the fact this is there fault.
That’s normal. If GMs had to type out personalized responses to every ticket, the response times would be exponentially longer. Templated responses cut that response time down significantly.
Analogies have to be analogous in order to work. This one does not.
A physical object like a TV has no connection back to the factory, thus it cannot be fixed when Sony has a fix ready. Every unit before a fix will forever remain broken and every unit after the fix will work. That’s not how downloadable content like WC3R operates. It can still be sold because the broken units can be fixed the moment a fix is ready.
And so, if they are still selling it, they both 1) can fix all units when the fix is ready, and 2) they plan to.
Quite right. They know it’s broke, they’ve acknowledged it’s broke, they’ve indicated that it’s being worked on, and they are going to work on it at the speed they deem is appropriate for the task.
Is that the only way though? This isn’t a situation where they’ve decided to leave it broke. They are already working on a fix, so where anyone posts won’t make a difference.
Continually replying to people to repeat that there still working on it over and over isn’t feasible. When no updates are given, the last communication is the current one.
If Bliz said nothing, then yeah, bad customer service. But just because they don’t occasionally drop in to repeat “still working on it” doesn’t constitute bad customer service. All that is is customers being high maintenance.
For some reason you’re a huge defender of blizzard, I understand it to some degree but there is no way you think it’s ok they are selling a game that is currently broken. The ethic thing for them to do here is to stop selling the game to Mac users until it’s fixed, anything else is corporate greed.
I’m sure you will still defend blizzard since you seem incapable of accepting they can do something wrong.
In the history of all online games, there’s been countless outages across all games and all studios. What would be the point of taking them all off the store each and every time there’s a temporary issue? Yes, it’s been a long time, but you are ignoring the fact that 1) Bliz overtly said they are going to fix it, and 2) you don’t know what’s involved in either the patch or the priority the fix is getting (compared to the active, flagship games).
So of course I find it okay that it’s still for sale: Bliz has given no indication that the Mac client is gone forever. If it was being eliminated, yes. But as far as anyone here knows, it’s not. So all sales will result in a product.
That’s just it. At no time did I ever give judge the situation as right or wrong, or give an opinion about how it’s being handled properly or improperly, or claim anything about it being correct or incorrect. You won’t find a single post of mine where I do any of those things. In other words, there’s been no defending.
No. All that’s happening is you are fabricating this ‘defending Bliz’ schtick simply because your position is rebutted, and you don’t like it. And it’s unfortunate to see you’re someone who will write off anything an opponent will say next as ‘defending Bliz’, before it’s even said. Smh.
The only thing I could be accused of defending is reality. A reality across the industry, not just Bliz. It’s fine if you’re frustrated, it’s even expected. But you can’t let that frustration allow you to just make up fake arguments to avoid facing a reality that’s independent of Bliz.
It is not a reality in the industry that you sell a product that says it works and is available on Mac when your product is non-functioning on that platform for over a month. That’s not a standard reality across the industry. You might find examples of it from other companies, but it is an aberration.
I just purchased the product and then refunded it. now the payment processing time isn’t that long and it isn’t that much money for me but it’s still not a positive experience for me.
Ideally if a company is having this issue, it would put on their store page a warning. Also, the fact that they have a warning when attempting to launch the game saying that they’re aware of this issue, but a but patch hasn’t been released for l over a month is a little bit weird.
