I can play Starcraft2 but every time i try to open Starcraft 1 it just says
" The application encountered an unexpected error "
and does nothing
I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times
and did the scan and repair thing

Same issue here.
SC 2, WC reforged and WC II - starting normally.
SC remastered runs in “unknown issue” on startup.
Scanning process does nothing. Uninstall routine does nothing. Re-Install impossible, b/c no clean uninstall.
WTF? Any ideas?

I’m still getting this same problem. I’ve tried ALL THE THINGS. I just cant play original starcraft!
Edit: I removed my antivirus, and some “game optimization programs” and it finally works. I wish I had tested things one at time to help others with the problem.

Reinstalled multiple times, scan and repair, nothing works. I just want to mess up some zerglins.

I just added starcraft to a new pc, it won’t play. reinstall, scan, nothing fixes it.

just installed it and getting same thing and my pc is only 4 months old with good specs…
On a similar note i can play it on my older pc that is nowhere near as good, same on laptop…

Same problem here, too. I’ve done all the things. It won’t launch directly from the .exes either. Running as Admin doesn’t help.

and then you contact their customer service and they give you a copy and paste answer to the problem, check this and that. our stuff is fine, its obviously a issue that needs to be resolved now, or mass refund

I have the same issue. When I uninstall the game and reinstall, if I launch the game immediately, it works fine, no issues. As soon as I close the game, then try to reopen, the unexpected error comes back. I believe the default start algorithm is looking in the wrong folder location, but can’t find where this is set or how to change it.
My issues seemed to start when an upgrade loaded one-drive onto my computer. I have uninstalled one-drive, but the issue remains.
