When Buffs or Nerfs Will Comes to Units?

Why dont balance the game? some units really not usefull example; battlecruisers have too slow attack and weak against other units. and nerfing carrier will be good choice too.

A: Battlecruisers have grown in popularity in TvZ and they are annoying to deal with.

B: Also Carriers are pretty popular in PvT but need to be microed properly or mass goliaths will ruin the day

There will be no balance changes, the game has been considered “balanced” for 20+ years
(even though I would like to see some tweaks that make Protoss Scouts viable)
That’s the way things are.

I only hope they add modding so we can use modded maps with our own balance theorycraft applied.

i want to use siege tanks without artilery but it have too slow normal attack. cant they improve this?

Not trying to be toxic here but if you’re under 12 years old or new to the game you should not pretend to know about sc1 balancing.

Just leave it at new to the game, why does age have anything to do with it? There’s a kids out there that have achieved more than most adults in their life time.

i start to play this game on 1998 when you was playing with toys. i know balancing in this game and if you buff %50 attack speed on siege tanks when moving this never effect on balance. because no one use without artilerry

This. Very much, this.

Yeah, lets ignore facts that some units are never used or barely used and call this balanced. Stop spreading myths.

Tanks are arguably the best unit in the game. That idea sounds ludicrous to me. If anything tanks should be nerf’d

I would love balance changes. They might not be perfect but they would change the meta which in turn would create new strategies and new variety of build orders. The game in it’s current state has reached a great spot in terms of balance but it’s gone stale. Part of having fun in a game is to explore the changes of balance patches. I think that is partially what makes a game successful and relevant. When blizzard stop releasing patches the game began to die out slowly but surely. Think about how fun it would to have balance changes for your favorite race.

Because “unused” units and balancing are the same thing?

Your rts esport culture looks outdated

I should preface my post by saying it’s a foregone conclusion that Classic Games won’t be shipping patch changes, as it would fly directly in the face of the mission statement of the remaster. I’ll treat this as a hypothetical scenario as a result.

I would caution against embracing radical changes, or even ones that are perceived as subtle and limited. Warcraft 3 has recently seen a lot of significant changes and the game’s balance has suffered significantly. Due to the pace of the changes in that environment, players are incapable of finding any footing, as by the time they’ve adapted to the new game state, a new patch is already looming.

Starcraft is not perfectly balanced - far from it, actually. The game achieves its balance through a combination of its unchanged game state (i.e. lack of patches) and the competitive map pool. As such, most meta shifts occur due to changes in that map pool. The argument of the game being ‘stale’, either to watch or to play, is separate from whether or not the game is balanced, but maybe a solution to this would be more frequent map pool changes that allow for different strategies to rise and fall in success rate.

Starcraft will never be ‘successful and relevant’ regardless of the game’s update schedule. This is not a value judgment on the game - especially from me, someone who believes it to be the greatest multiplayer game ever made, and certainly the greatest RTS. This is just the reality of the game having a skill floor that is much higher than modern games, regardless of genre. If you really want it to be a popular game, that would almost certainly require lowering the skill floor, which I would argue snuffs out some of what makes Starcraft great. The game survived (on life support, perhaps) for years prior to the remaster and will likely endure for much longer, all without any balance changes.

I encourage you any anyone else who’s after a more fun experience to create a new game state yourself, with whatever balance changes you’d like to see, and share it here and elsewhere. That’s pretty much the best you can hope for.

You’re basically describing every game that is relevant outside of RTS.

Never said it was perfectly balanced I said it reached a good spot, probably the best any RTS game will ever reach.

It’s not the skill lvl that scares new players away it’s the huge advantage that other players already have on the new players( 2 decades). There is hardly if any new players left in this game, most have been playing for quite some time. A way to freshen the game would be to release an update that way what we knew about units no longer applies. Everyone sort of starts fresh.

I would much rather hope and dream for updates. I still have fun playing the game in it’s current state, the idea that changes to the game would actually happen excites me, so yes, i’m going to keep pushing for it whether you agree with it or not.

New forum thus new trolls? When you learn that SCBW won’t going to change, ever? Never!

Never ever because this game is the best Rts ever creates, please stop spamming threads like this

This. If we don’t get advanced modding capabilities in StarEdit, gameplay will stay that way forever. It would be great to make your own tech tree and set the desired upgrades/researches for the buildings you want with the desired cost, just to begin with.

It’s already somehow “balanced”. Maybe not the perfect balance but rebalancing the game again would bring only the chaos and requirement of another balance patch after balance patch. Some people also would mostly give up especially the ones that want to enjoy the game as it was around 20 years ago like me. If you want to play SC game that is constantly rebalanced then go play SC2. I hope SC1 will never fall to that chaotic and random balance spiral that SC2 is right now.

BTW. Minor balance changes could be done by balancing the ranked maps without breaking the races. Their size, expand distance, wall placements and harass possibilities etc.

Ofc not, they know soyboys and NPCs will buy the $40 HD remasters while convincing themselves it’s going to revive the game, and people who use appeal to tradition fallacies to justify why the game doesn’t need changes

Nerfing protoss would be nice, but what we really need is multiple building selection at the same time, no longer black minimap, SC2-like unit pathing and infinite unit selection.
