Starcraft on Switch

Would it ever be possible to put Starcraft Remastered on the Nintendo Switch, Starcraft 64 style?

I own a switch, i would 100% purchase a remastered of the Nintendo 64 PORT on Switch with remastered graphics and online gameplay, i am 100% ALL-IN into that all the way, take my money, this is a great idea.

Possible? Yes.
Likely? No.
Advisable? Probably not.

Starcraft 64 played really poorly if you were at all used to the PC version and they had to scale back the graphics and removed a massive amount of the music and voice lines.

I’m sure Nintendo would be fine allowing it on their system but it would take a lot of work to create a version that anyone would enjoy, including some really innovative use of the buttons and touch screen. It could certainly be done but it still wouldn’t play as well as it does with a mouse and keyboard.

Then we have the fact that Blizzard has shown virtually no interest in the Starcraft franchise beyond maintenance and ladder seasons and a handful of licensed merchandise. They’re focused almost entirely on Overwatch, Warcraft, and Diablo right now. Sure, you have some exceptions like the Blizzard Arcade Collection but those titles were primarily designed with consoles in mind so the investment didn’t involve much in the way of redesigns.

As with other fans, I’d definitely buy it if it came out as I’d do just about anything to play the 2-player secret mission Resurrection IV in some official version without having to get an N64 and the game, play through every mission, unlock every cheat code, and then either find someone to play with in-person or make due playing by myself with two controllers.

But I can’t imagine any situation where Blizzard would move ahead with it at this point.

If you watch youtube videos of the original N64 version, you can see the ported version is pretty similar. I gave that version some bug corrections and changed the color of the strings, because people had issues reading with characters over snow, but not much else.

I disagree. I think it is perfect. Though iam not the wisest on switches. Since i dont even own one. But i would rather suspect that there arent any or very few rts games on the switch. If that is true i could see it working.
I just recall the Ipod/ Iphone/ itunes game “starfront” that was basicly a starcraft 1/2 clone. That had actually many of the same designs for the gas and stuff. But just like starcraft 3 races( though other designs). You could play alone vs the computer. It had a fun campaign. And the best part was that you could play it via bluetooth with friends from ipod and iphone to an other.
For some reason they didnt update it anymore, and it got removed from the applestore. Probally some case of lawsuit with blizzard or because it was not supported anymore. At any case it was one, if not the best RTs on the applestore.
It nice controls for the touchscreen too. It was at the golden era of apple games. Where we had a great variety and you acutally could play via bluetooth with your friends and didnt need wifi for any s. . And the games were orginals and were not full of ads that destroyed the experience.

I could see activison outsourcing it to some company. Giving them the franchise rights to make some niche little rts starcraft game for mobile phones/ switch.
