I have Windows 10 and my mouse pointer speed in the Pointer Options tab in the Mouse Properties window is set to 6/11 to give me a 1:1 ratio between the output of my mouse software and the pointer in the Windows OS. When I open Starcraft Remastered either fullscreen, windowed fullscreen or just windowed, my mouse pointer speed setting is instantly changed to 8/11 regardless of what settings I have on or off in the game.
For example, I can have the Mouse Properties window open on my screen with the pointer speed set and saved to 6/11, have Starcraft in a window right next to it on my screen, and the moment I click on the Starcraft window, bam, it instantly changes and saves the mouse pointer speed setting to 8/11 (you have to refresh the Mouse Properties window by closing and re-opening it to visibly see the changed setting).
How do you stop this change from happening?
I am amazed that I have not been able to find anyone else talking about this in the Starcraft community. I guess it’s old news and I’ve just been out of the loop.
I hope this post helps other people out there like me. Go test it yourselves and let me know if the same thing happens to you.
Thanks
SOLVED
Alright, I’ve figured out this silly issue. I know that other games like League of Legends as well as other random programs have had this problem.
In this particular case, the pointer speed setting in Pointer Options CANNOT BE CHANGED and saved while Starcraft is running, period. Starcraft as well as potentially other programs causing the problem MUST BE CLOSED in order to change and save the pointer speed setting.
If you attempt the change the pointer speed setting while Starcraft is running, the instant you navigate back to Starcraft, some unseen force will automatically reset the pointer speed setting back to whatever it was before you last launched Starcraft.
So clearly, the pointer speed on the PC I had this issue with was set to 8/11 and I attempted to change it to 6/11 while Starcraft was running. Very confusing, hopefully this helps the odd person out there with this problem.
Nop, the thing is that windows and starcraft remastered both have their individual settings. In other words windows cursor speed doesnt affect the cursor speed when you are in the game doing stuff, clicking, etc.
Each settings are their own in windows and starcraft, they dont overlap at least for this part. Also actually starcraft tells you more than windows, it tells you of much of your mouse speed you are using → 50% or whatever. It helps immensly when changing dpi on your mouse, changing mouse etc.
The settings between mouse and starcraft in that regard → cursor seem to be one to one. At least i tried a bit and it seems that way, though iam not 100% certain, only 99%.
First of all there are many threads about this topic…
But the reality is you get crazy if you go to deep into this and end into madness. Specially if you see the other mouse seetings to your choice.
The 1:1 ratio is tricky since more than 50 procent supposedtly leads to skipping pixels, i wonder if it the same in starcraft…
And you are wrong Windows hasnt 6:11, but 5:10 …

Actually, y the middle settings in Windows before “6:11” even though there was apparently allways 1:20 and the visible 6:11 was 5 :10 . It gives you 1:1 ratio. Since starcraft recreates this the 50 procent in starcraft should give you a one pixel per so much inches moved…
So i have experiment a bit with it, and putting 100 procent in starcraft as well as in windows 10,etc. is just bad.
What i dont get in all this fact that i have seen Progamers and high skill players using both 50 % and also 60 % or something between this, around this …
I mean if my theoritical is right, than you could go over 50, and it would probally work, but 50 seems just better …
Also who ever ready this someday:
Higher dpi, cursor velocity gives you faster mouse movements to the point you can macro like a good, and go around your base much faster, etc.
But if it is to high and i have tested this, you just take much longer in everything, i had it on 100 with extrem high dpi. IT is s., i went down on ladder, i was on D sometimes in C. After playing for weeks, i still was only on E. Nice Drone splits are just not possible or rare, you take for everything more focus, to the point your apm and macro get s., since you miss so many click and need to adjust, your mouse goes all over the place. You need a confortamble speed for yourself. Just put the middle settings in windows and starcraft. And be happy.
The only problem i see is the switching between old broodwar and remastered version, since both have different mouse options. And when i played broodwar normal it feels different. Since i started with remastered.
