More Heroes for the Editor?

I’d like to see more Hero units to be accessible through any editor, so that map makers could have more units to work with.

These new Heroes don’t have to be special like story units such as Tassadar, Raynor, or Duran and they can just be “regular unit-like” Heroes such as Warbringer, Gui Montag, or The Unclean One.

Some base units don’t have a Hero, so it would be nice to see new units like a Hero Dropship, Devourer, or Observer along with a long list of others units types who don’t have a Hero counter-part. It would also be nice to have more Heroes of the same type, like how there’s 2 Hero Battlecruisers (Hyperion and Norad II).

Would this be impossible to add? Will players not like new Heroes to be able to use? I’d like opinions on the addition of new Heroes to be available for map makers.

More heroic marines especially would be great. Doubt blizz will add the stuff though; best bet is a mod.

100% sure Blizzard won’t consider. When Blizzard no longer support editor and even abandoned their own editor, how could you assume Blizzard will care about UMS community?

As for your request, wouldn’t adding a feature create new unit like world editor, solve everything? Again, 100% it won’t be done by Blizzard, because UMS can’t grant them money.

^ It’s how they treat DOTA too, although few years later they regret to refuse Iceforg’s Dota2 lol and create their own HOS but failed xDDD.

I would like to see this as well.

Good idea, but Blizzard will not do anything that does not make money.

I think I’ll have to clarify that my topic did not meant that I would like for Blizzard to support the now-obsolete StarEdit program, but just to add more Heroes that other 3rd-party editors like ScmDraft 2 or others can still have access to the new Heroes for map makers.

Also the logic of “If it’s not profitable, they won’t do it.” just doesn’t make a lot of sense me. Blizzard still maintains the servers along with other “unprofitable” addtions like new hand drawn portraits for new ranks for the new season. If all the assets are already there to make these new Heroes with almost no cost, then what’s the difference with additional Heroes in comparison to the other “unprofitable” actions?

Ok, first of all SC:R is a paid game ,this is very important, and it is the core of our discussion。
I don’t know if you have purchased games on Steam, but I want to tell you if the publisher cannot maintain multiplayer games and modify vicious bugs for us。Then they will definitely be posted with bad reviews and be asked for a refund!
As for the new hero unit or editor you mentioned, it’s more like an extended content for an extra charge,But SC:R the sales volume of main body is not high, so the sales volume of DLC is not good.
Blizzard is not a charity, so they will only operate SC:R at the lowest cost.

Frankly I believe that Blizzard’s priority is not on UMS maps anymore, if it ever was. And, SC:R is a free game. The remastered and cartooned graphics are not, but everything aside from cosmetics and voice packs are free.

Numerous tools exist for modding previous versions of the game, and you can use these to add your own units or heroes.

This is what I want to express! If you want, you can only do it yourself, don’t expect Blizzard to do it for you for free.

While I understand that there are ways to edit the MPQ files to create more units and such, that still would run into problems where it is only playable on 1.16 versions and other problems like it? Would one such example be like it would be impossible to play with others on projects that have made edits into the MPQ files?

On the unlikely situation that Blizzard does decide to make more Heroes, that would help out with SC:R map makers and such so causal modders won’t have to deal with the headaches of the ghosts of the past.

It’s a real shame SC didn’t get an amazing editor like WC3 or SC2 got.

Some types of units can be replicated in a pretty lifelike way although I’m not sure it would be possible to create a - say - custom lurker hero with identical mechanics. Much less a carrier hero as everything about carriers is so hardcoded. Not sure about a medic hero, either. But there are still unused units slots in SC so in theory it’s possible, although since Blizzard hasn’t added any new units to the game since Brood War, I’m not holding my breath.

Correction: StarCraft (+Brood War) is a free game. R (Remastered) is the graphical update that has to be bought to access.

Imagine a StarEdit with functions near to that of the World Editor (Warcraft III).
I’d at least like to imagine a Warcraft II and why not Orcs & Humans editor capable of doing what StarEdit (or even ScmDraft 2) does.

SC:R is the name for the newest versions of Starcraft, no need to nitpick. The term is used to refer to versions of SC after 1.16.

That’s like saying Reforged is 1.32+ Warcraft III Classic which is wrong, ultimately.

Ultimately wrong in terms of the definition, but ultimately correct in terms of player-used terms.

It’s wrong whether it’s popular to be so or not.

If it is in China, I say SC: R refers to the latest paid version of SC, never include the free version or other versions, which need not be emphasized, because this is recognized。
But because of cultural differences, I will try to understand what you say.
