@All,
I’m on a Hackintosh - Profile of iMac 18,3 - 5K Retina 27" Mid 2017
[Primary System Specs:]
i7 7700K @4.2GHz
32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHz RAM
Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3 MOBO
CoolerMaster Hyper212EVO
PNY NVIDIA GTX-970 4GB Card, (Mac Flashed), NVIDIA Web Driver 387.10.10.10.40.137
One Samsung 860 Pro SATA/VNAND 1TB SSD - MacOS, APFS
One Samsung 860 Pro SATA/VNAND 1TB SSD - Win 7 Pro x64
One Western Digital Black SATA 2TB Drive - (HFS+) - 1 Partition for Time Machine - 1TB and 1 Partition for Blizzard Games - 1TB
I HAVE Updated to the Latest Patch. (8589) I CAN Launch the Game, (64-Bit), and CAN check Options. ALL my Settings are still correct.
This morning I WAS able to connect to Battle.net US West Server - NO Disconnects, NO Crashes. I also was able to get to Single Player --> Custom Games, Killing Fields Map. Again, NO Crashes.
I DO have, (in BIOS), the Integrated HD-630 GPU DISABLED. I’m wondering IF this is another Integrated Graphics INCOMPATIBILITY via Blizzard’s Updates. That is, something INCOMPATIBLE between Blizzard’s coding and MacOS usage of the Integrated GPUs…

[EDIT:]
Forgot to mention I’m on High Sierra 10.13.6 - (17G13035).
[EDIT 2:]
I have a friend with a 14,1 (REAL) iMac - i5 Quad Core. He’s on High Sierra - (17G13035). He just Updated SC:R to the 8589 Patch.
He’s using 64-Bit SC:R, like me, and has NO issues connecting to US West, or playing Single Player.
It REALLY seems that this is pointing to Users still Defaulting to the 32-Bit SC:R. This MUST now be Disabled in the Battle.net App Launcher! ONLY use the 64-Bit SC:R.

4:49 PM - PDT - [EDIT 3:]
Taken from my Post in General --> 1.23.5 Notes Thread:
Generic Specs on my friend’s 2013 iMac 14,1:
“The iMac “Core i5” 2.7 21.5-Inch Aluminum (Late 2013/Haswell) features a 22 nm “Haswell/Crystalwell” Quad Core 2.7 GHz Intel “Core i5” (4570R) processor with four independent processor cores on a single chip, a 4 MB shared level 3 cache, 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (which is not intended to be upgraded after purchase), a 1 TB (5400 RPM) hard drive, and an “integrated” Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics processor with 128 MB of “Crystalwell” embedded DRAM (and shared system memory). It also has a built-in “FaceTime HD” webcam and stereo speakers, but lacks an optical drive.”
‘So, ‘Real’ Macs with LESS than an Iris Pro 5200 are the models seeming to have issues here. My friend has the 2013 iMac 14,1 with the Iris Pro 5200, AND IS able to Play SC:R WITHOUT issues.’
I just recently Posted the above AFTER ZarpaZaina stated in 1.23.5 Notes that Disabling 32-Bit alone did NOT solve his problems… He also states that his MacBook Pro from 2012 DOES HAVE the Integrated 4000 Intel GPU.
The 3000/4000 Series GPUs, (and or Iris/Iris Pro Graphics of that era), HAVE had issues with Blizzard Games BEFORE. (WoW comes to mind…)
So, GPU seems to be the key factor we’ve been looking for here.

@ALL MacOS Users WITH Dual Graphics Setups:
“If you want to use the higher-performance discrete graphics processor at all times, choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Energy Saver. Then deselect the automatic graphics switching checkbox.”
Got this off the Web. This ALSO was Posted elsewhere in the Blizzard Forums, BUT I CANNOT remember which Thread had these instructions. (I believe I first found this info from the WoW Forum in MacOS Tech Support.)
Follow the above Instructions that I’ve quoted, and your Systems WILL Switch from UHD-Graphics to Discrete/AMD-ATI Radeon Graphics.

[EDIT:]
@Devlin76,
OS X 10.10.x = ‘Yosemite’???
IF you are on Yosemite, I believe this OS has been EOL by Blizzard Support. Update to AT LEAST High Sierra, 10.13.6 with Latest Security Update - (17G13035).

Maybe, but I don’t think there is enough evidence to support this as it stands. My 2010 MacMini has NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB integrated graphics (impressed, no? /s) , so it doesn’t have an Intel GPU. You could still be right, but it could be any number of things at this point. It would be a bit ironic that a game with 1998 quality graphics is having technical problems with GPUs.

@goldcamj,
Don’t take my word for it, then, on the Integrated Intel Iris/Iris Pro 3000/4000 GPUs… I suggest reading the WoW Forum --> MacOS Tech Support location and go through ALL the complaints of these GPUs NOT being able to play WoW properly.
TiaPriestess and Omegal over there ‘seem’ to be the “Mainline” Support in that Forum. Omegal is an ‘mvp’ so his Posts are green. Tia has LOADS of Hardware knowledge, more than I.
It seems to me, from ALL that I’ve read on the WoW Forum with these cards having issues, that whatever recent changes Blizzard has made to SC:R that the GPU Issues HAVE carried over to here.
[EDIT:] BUT, as to the ‘New’ UHD-Graphics Issues… I still stick to the suggestion of Overriding the Default UHD-Graphics with the Discrete Graphics, (when provided by Apple), in the MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Disable the “Automatic Switching”.
TimeLord04
Curious, are the WoW issues only with Macs with integrated GPUs, or is it Windows/PCs, too?
7-10-2020 at 1:22 PM - PDT
@goldcamj,
I can’t remember exactly what WoW Patch caused the 3000/4000 Graphics Issues to arise, but it’s been months from what I do recall.
As I primarily stick to MacOS and Mac Support Forums and Threads, I don’t have an answer on IF Windows PCs with these cards have issues, too. At least NOT in the same manner as they have in MacOS.
It was ‘agreed’ that something either in Intel or in MacOS or a combination of how these are used on Macs could be causing issues with how Blizzard is coding the games. Some Blue Posts did come forth, and it was mentioned that Blizzard WAS/IS working with Apple and Intel to get a good fix. To date, nothing new has emerged as a Fix or Workaround.

As I also DON’T play WoW, I have NO Posting privileges over there. I just read to keep up my knowledge on Blizzard and MacOS Developments.

I have the exact same problem
MacBook Pro 13" (2011 Late)
Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6
Intel Core i5 Dual-Core 2,4 Ghz
8 GB DDR3 RAM
So, to narrow things down, I already tried to uninstall and reinstall both Starcraft and the Battle.net app. I did a reset on my router, and did a software update on it. Released and renewed my IP and DNS to resolve any network conflicts. Still not working.
