It is possilbe to play on Linux, if yes , how? When? etc.?

I have got some laptops that can run SCRM but stuggle much because Windows 10 is a big spy application that focus not on helping the user but some vage programms i dont need neither most people, beginning with Windows Siri( yes i can see that it could help some people, but not me and most other neither, why is it a fundamental part of the windows system, why cant i desinstall it normally without fearing systems destruction), ending with lousy space taker software for some coperations that pay windows to put their bad software into their getting every year worse operating system…

IF yes…
Which linux of all ?
Debian, or whatever if you know linux you know what iam talking about …

How ?
Do i install it on the ceratin linux OS?

Further, Add whatever you want if it has some connection with the topic…
Pls no stupid comments that dont help in the discussion like " Just play on Windows" or “buy a new pc” or " What is linux", “windows is not spying just looking to improve their product”, “Windows 10 is great”(Nor it is not …" , etc.

I am also very interested in the response to this question. Quite honestly, being unsure whether SC will play on Linux is the only thing preventing me from leaving Windows.

Leonix - I agree: when I got a Windows 10 computer, I spent over 4 hours working out how to remove all the programs I didn’t want, how to disable location, make it private, etc. Plus, despite telling it when it may update, it has (on at least 3 occasions) decided to update when I’ve been in the middle of some work.

yes, it’s possible to play on linux (ubuntu/debian) through wine. use lutris for an easy config. (can’t include link, sorry you’ll have to google it)

i play remastered on ubuntu no problem, and get full functionality with the bnet client. zero issues.

blizzard won’t help you with this though since it isn’t officially supported, best to go to linux communities for detailed advice. they tend to be very helpful.

Same here, I play with Lutris on Arch GNU/Linux without any problem :grinning:

Special for stupid comments:

Pre addictions for this is “MAC” a have higher priorites.

Now. I think so this “Linux” so very need a better community for destroyed this “Windows 7…to higher Windows”.

To continuesly stupid comments:

Highest security level in “Windows 7…to higher Windows”? Yes? - then highest hackers level. Understand?

Stop! -this stupid technology. We are players - no more.

We even had tutorials on how to install Star Craft on the old forums!
I play it on Linux Mint, but it doesn’t matter, you can play on any distro as long as it supports the required software, (you just need to have the required packages in the distro’s repository)
So, you can use either PlayOnLinux, Lutris or just plain WINE, the installation process is much easier on the first ones, but in the end it’s not that hard.

(just remove the spaces, this new forum system doesn’t allow me to post links)

I am able to run StarCraft Remastered, StarCraft 2, Heroes Of The Storm, and I can imagine the upcoming WarCraft III Reforged will run as well.

That’s awesome, thanks! I’ll save those links for when I get a new computer.

I have tried installing the StarCraft original on Archlinux. I used Windows 7 for wine. But it seems that at the StarCraft Installation page, clicking on the Install button does not do anything. Has anyone got a clue how to proceed from there? Thank you.

This is a step-by-step guide to do it manually, without Lutris.
