Switching from Europe to America in the Battle.net Launcher does indeed seem to fix it.
With ladder being global anyway, is there even any difference when logging in through America?

European servers not working. AGAIN.
Yes same here games are not counted again on europe.
9days zero reaction from blizzard.
So, the game has become totally unplayable. Profiles are gone for all the gateways and making new is impossible due to server error. We should congratulate blizzard for acting like a shady annonimous phone app developer.
My only question is - is it possible to get a refund on all of my purchases? Im fine with them being removed from my account since i dont want to use them anymore.
16 days without any reaction from blizzard - this is unacceptable !

It’s a fckin joke…I thought I have some issues but looks like I’m not alone…it’s outrageous Blizz doesn’t do anything to solve this…wtf happening here?!
As some others have pointed out, changing the region (the globe icon in the bottom left corner of the selected game window of the battle.net launcher next to the play button) from ‘Europe’ to ‘Americas’ seems to work so far.
I distinctly remember having some talk either with a Blizzard developer or another player years ago about how the intention was to get rid of the gateways and/or the battle.net app regions and combine them all into one but how they wouldn’t until they have remade/remastered all of the classic Blizzard games that you can play over legacy battle.net. Maybe some day… (Now that the ball at least is probably in Microsoft’s court)
I can confirm. I have the same problems. My Profiles are not loading. cant enter the battlenet
Same, (Eu) all profiles are gone, cannot enter Bnet 
Blizzard, we love the game, please fix your servers!
