Just installed it because new patch made the game unplayable. Tried out a few games on iCCup (managed to find some ppl still there hanging on)

My god - old version is pure bliss! No lag, no stuttering, no CPU load (it only takes 25 MB LOL), menus load instantly and my mouse movements are so precise. Also old SD graphics are so sharp and aren’t butchered like on this remastered. Look what this game has become. Anyone else feeling like me and agree - 1.16.1 was superior version?
Yes, 100%. 1.16.1 was amazing. It’s crazy how bad the game has become.
The Idea for a Starcraft Remasterd was good, but why did they have to sacrifice the original version of Starcraft Broodwar?
This is not how you treat a legendary game like Starcraft.

Remastered was meant to be just a graphics update. I must admit that I do like the new graphics (although, as mentioned here, the old graphics are still good), but this has now become much more than a simple graphics update. I have never had lag with SC1 until recently, and I will be looking forward to playing SC1 again with the 1.16 patch very soon! Thankfully, I kept my original CDs!
I helped beta test SCR (1.18) on the PTR, ive wanted to roll back since then. The only improvement i liked was the additional layer of anti hack protection. The rest was a mistake.
this patch is absolute trash. my game runs at 20 fps, wost stuff ever

Also, I miss everything before version 1.23.0 because it busted my replays and every comment that I make regarding that seems to get ignored.

If you have the original CDs, just install a fresh copy of the old game, patch it up to a version you like that has replays, and go from there.
At the moment, that’s probably your best option.
Somewhere in 2018, I became burnt out of playing SC Remastered, so I just started playing the ICCup for like a month or so, until it just took too long for me to find a game. I honestly don’t have much of a grudge on the remaster than I did back when it was released, but I still might come back to it, if the server gets a bit more populated
