I am is stage 9 of the Zerg campaign and I am required to destroy the entire protoss fleet in 30 minutes - how can I do it? Conventional means will take too much time.
Therea are a few options. My favorite is to make some extra Hatcheries, tech up, research Ventral Sacks, make a hatchery on the peninsula to the west of the Protoss base, build a Nydus Network to bridge the gap, and then mass units from there. This method means you have no contact with Terran other than a few attacks on your base.
I immediately send the two Guardians to destroy the Cannons that are on the high ground across the chasm. Then I have them clear out the Tanks and Bunkers on the top-middle and bottom-middle so nothing is shooting at my attack force on the way. During this time I make a couple extra Hatcheries and go crazy researching Zergling and Hydralisk upgrades at the Spawning Pool, Hydralisk Den, and multiple Evolution Chambers. I rally everything to the top-right and bottom-right corners of the map. I primarily make Hydralisks but add Zerglings whenever there isn’t enough Gas. Make sure to have the Hydras in control groups as well as the Hatcheries.
When it gets to about 20 minutes I start sending units in. It’s important to drag-select the front of the bunches, attack with them, and then drag-select the next cluster so you’re not attack-moving with units that are stuck behind others. I use the control groups with the Hydralisks to focus down the most dangerous enemies like Reavers, High Templar, and Carriers. The Zerglings can do whatever they want as long as they’re attacking something. During all of this I keep sending more units from the Hatcheries using the control groups so I don’t have to look away.
You’ll lose a lot of units but they’ll overwhelm the Protoss base quickly.
Also, you want to complete the mission in less than 25 minutes if you want a special bonus.
As mentioned already the nydus method is the most reliable as you can transfer everything to the island and mass hydras to clear it out.
The float a drone to hatch nydus the other continent has been mentioned alot. Ive done that before. I dont even do that anymore. You have enough army from the very start to take the bottom terran base. keep the guardians alive to snipe the tanks . take that base. from their you can go back to sniping the 3 isolated photon cannons and HT near tassadar’s prison. after slapping down a hatch at the aquired terran bottom base just mass up and rally it all outside the protoss base and go. ling hydra ultra a few muta. youll have enough $ on 2 base. its all about how early you take the terran bottom base and you can take it immediately. if you do this id skip the nydus strat entirely. im not sure if the nydus approach involves taking a second base for zerg considering the clock. the sneaky nydus approach has reavers right there. and on a 1 base play it can be tough. I treat that level more like a multiplayer approach lean into getting the early game just right which is that take the terran base play. and then the massing and rallying it all the long walk way which is a much more addressable approach to attack from.
OK thanks for the the replies and the suggestions everyone: I appreciate it.
