I play SCR on my PC at Full HD resolution (Dell Optiplex 7010). It runs pretty well. Only thing is I cannot run it at 4k and cannot enable Real-time lighting. It doesn’t matter, I am happy with Full HD resolution.
Once, I played SCR on my friend’s high- end PC (with my same account), and SCR automatically switched to 4k resolution and enabled Real-time lighting. It looks better.
The problem is now when I play on my own PC, SCR does not change back to Full HD resolution but remains at 4k resolution. I am sure it is 4k because it look totally better than before. However my PC cannot afford this 4k resolution, the game is jerky and unplayable.
How can I change back to Full HD resolution?
Howdy!
Reviewing the Dell Optiplex 7010 specifications that I could locate. None of the options had a GPU that met our requirements to utilize Real-time lighting. We cover this on our System Requirements article Here.
Note: Use of the real-time lighting feature in StarCraft: Remastered requires a graphics card with at least 2GB of Dedicated VRAM, and at least 3GB of system RAM.
As for adjusting the game’s settings. It appears you can get the game to start. At the main menu press (F5) key to revert back to original non-HD settings. Then go to Options to reset the settings to default. You can then press F5 again to turn back on HD resolution.
Thank you!

Thank you for your help. I do not ask for how to turn on RTL. I am asking to turn down the resolution from 4k to fullHD as before.
I did what you guide but unfortunately, the game still display at 4k resolution.
The option Real-time-lighting is still grey (it never enable on my PC). Only resolution has changed.
My Dell 7010 has I5-3470 CPU, 4G RAM, and has NOT dedicated Graphics Card.
I have played SCR for hundreds hours on this PC. Now I can only play on non-HD resolution.
update:
I tried to login on my laptop (which uses on-board graphics card). The game runs at FullHD resolution as before. But when I login back on my PC, the game still run at 4k. Impossible to change resolution to FullHD.
Some how SCR “thinks” my PC has high-end hardware and run game at 4k while in fact my PC could not afford that setting.
Again, waiting for help to turn back low setting.
huavanthai,
With that in mind, I’d assume there’s some kind of settings conflict or something of that nature. Does resetting your video driver settings, then the game settings fix anything?
If you’re still having trouble after this troubleshooting, please generate a text copy of your DxDiag using these instructions. Once you have that made, open the file. Copy the code below, then copy/paste everything from that DXDiag file between the rows of tilde (~) marks where it says “DXDiag goes here.”

Hi, Thank for support. I found a temporary solution for my case: I low down resolution of my PC to 1440*900 then play SCR at window mode (full screen). The game doesn’t run at 4k anymore. But I cannot adjust gamma as before.
huavanthai,
You do need to play in true fullscreen mode to adjust gamma, otherwise it just uses your monitor’s brightness setting as that’s how windowed modes work.
I have an idea here. There are a number of locations where we store information on your computer. We’re going to delete all of this temporary information, as it seems like your computer is not syncing settings correctly from the servers.
First, try setting your desktop resolution back to normal, then do this:
- Press Windows+R to open the Run prompt
- Type one of the below locations and press enter:
%programdata%
%temp%
%appdata%
%localappdata%
- Delete any folders which say Blizzard, Battle.net, or Blizzard Entertainment
- Repeat steps 2/3 for all 4 locations above
- Grab a new battle.net application installer from our website and run it
Now, launch the game again on your laptop, play a match, and finally, launch the game on your PC again. It SHOULD download the settings from your laptop and fix things.
