Download settings - Download failed at launch

We have the same problem as like this topic years ago…and I saw on Reddit, I’m not the only one…last time I had this problem a few weeks ago and then a day later everything started to work…but I want to play my game when I have time for it not when the game let me…

Same problem, occurred 3 days ago. I’ve tried ALL regions and it says “There’s problem connecting to the server, try again later (error 3:13)”

I’m getting this too, impossible to play BroodWar online at the moment.

Same here, Bnet servers seem to be completely broken… no region works, my profile is just gone

A workaround that works for me is to switch the region in the Battle.net launcher where you press Play (i.e. not the gateway in StarCraft) to America.

hi i have issue with the game Starcraft broodwar classic i would like to ask for your help I launch the game from application and its shows me after download settings download fail afterwards i dont have access to my accounts.thank you for you help

I have the same problem as well, please fix that already - it’s been like this for a few days now, and there were intermittent issues even before that.

My friends and I from different locations have the same issue. The new profile failed to create in BattleNet in any other region. Please raise the priority.
Basic things like restart laptop or other network equipment don’t work

Same issue here. Had the issue of Downloading Settings didn’t work last month on and off, tried playing today and I now permanently get the error. For a while it seems that turning off the firewall helped.
Today I tried on a Mac mini 2018 (Intel), Mac Air M4 and a Windows 11 (newly installed), all the same error, can not download settings (I assume it is trying to download my Battle net profile). All machines patched to latest OS.

Someone recommended trying to create a new account - tried US West, Asia and EU. Non worked, after a long time it came an error message.

If any one from the tech team sees this - I made a tcpdump (on my Mac) that I am happy to send during the startup, failed login and exit if that can help finding the issue.

2025-05-31. The same issue. Settings’ download failed. @blizzard, can you comment the troubles, please?

I found a work around, as listed here in the forum. In the Battle.net client before clicking Play - I changed the globe from EU to America, and it worked. Thanks everyone that pointed it out - I took a time to figure out where to change the Region before starting the game…

As others pointed out, changing the region (the globe icon in the bottom left corner of the selected game window of the battle.net launcher next to the play button) from ‘Europe’ to ‘Americas’ seems to work so far.

I distinctly remember having some talk either with a Blizzard developer or another player years ago about how the intention was to get rid of the gateways and/or the battle.net app regions and combine them all into one but how they wouldn’t until they have remade/remastered all of the classic Blizzard games that you can play over legacy battle.net. Maybe some day… (Now that the ball at least is probably in Microsoft’s court)
