Cutscenes of SC1 remastered

Hi, I would like to know if there are any possibilities in the future to see the Starcraft1 Remastered cutscenes remake instead of the resolution scaling. I understand that it wasn’t one of the biggest development priorities but there are various reasons why it would be interesting to have them:

  1. StarCraft compared to other Blizzardian brands does not have sequels in the pipeline such as Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 or Shadowlands. SC2 is still very “current” in its RTS genre, and apart from the competitive management, it does not needs particular artistic efforts.
  2. I often read as a justification that the cutscenes have not been redone to “keep the original 90’s gaming experience”. in my opinion it is not true: the dubbing, the models of the panels and even the artistic screens have been redone, which correct all the graphics of the game to be in line with the style defined by SC2 (in particular on the main characters likes Kerrigan or arthanis). it just annoys you to see this one detail not redone amidst so many graphics / audio updates.
  3. we don’t claim the same cutscenes as SC2, but a similar rendering to the final Warctaft 3 Reforged (arthas vs illidan) cutscene would already be acceptable in quality. always better than having the extremely dated 90s graphics quality, and with too much graphic differences.
  4. it is not my intention to make accusations of ‘laziness’ to the developers on the cutscenes, but many specialized sites of the videogame sector have always criticized this detail in the Blizzard remastered. it is in effect a lack of a product, which is “incomplete” on this detail (the cutscenes).
  5. adding the redone cutscenes would help regain more confidence in remastered made-in-Blizzard, especially after the W3R scandal. Online there are many who doubt the quality of a possible Diablo2 renastered, but starting with fixing the only artistic flaw of the remastered SC1 is a great start (followed by the current W3R updates, of course  ).

Developers, we know you are excellent art directors, and keeping up with details like this is never a bad investment. it would also justify a slight increase in the price of the product to add the cutscenes. I don’t know how significant this feedback is, but I hope it reflects the same feeling perceived by the community.

(Sorry, I initially wrote the same post on the SC2 forum, only later I realized the forum only for SC1)

Brief answer, never …

Long answer:

No
No
No
n o
NO
N O
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

WHY?
Well you may not know this, Starcraft remastered not has been one of the worst expierences many of us had the last months, but many players will and are leaving, maybe forever…
Reason being: Some months or so ago, we had massive crashes all the time, Multiplayer custom games still is a piece of a bad joke …
Lists of old games, you try to join, seconds you wait , that pop up " you cant join" …
WHY? Because they are old games …
MAny players leaving, funny enought many new joined in the corona virus peak …
THan they realeased one of the worst patches …
PAtch: “Ruin of a game” …
At least some of the singleplayers gamers may have a better time, nice for them, but i know because of this forum that they also suffer some of the consquences …
Crashes,etc.
But not as bad as for the multiplayer custom game community…
Even ladder has it better, but they also struggle with hackers, delays, bad matchmaking, lagg, crashes, jumping over the opening screen when entering new match, which shows map and races…

As much as i personally would love this, no …
Will not happen, and they have more important matters to attend, like cutting employers…
Worst of all they also shut down many of the communities efforts, in helping the game …
In other words, “we prefer to be the captain sinking the ship than letting others bring the ship to new horizons,” for a bill and not for a ballot…
After all the brains behind the project starcraft, in other words those who gave the know-how, vision most of them are surely still there right ?
So if there is a patent behind intellectual property, it is surely should belong to a enterprise with a one way ticket to hell, righT ?
The author of a book, struggles with editing essential parts of his magnus opus, to write a better post tempus form, seeing in examples like the J.k…
So since this is a game made by many people, released becoming something bigger, and a part of many, why is the so called company behind this game, that can give you revenue, if you let it… Why is it getting destroyed by it ?

THan people claiming that Blitz not releasing the code for the game being a good thing, while lighting is destroying the game itself …

If you dont want to support this IP, either give it to the public with all it components, -> Servers…
Or give it to a company that is willing to support this game as the game it is …

Hi, I’m sorry you are experiencing these inconveniences, really. :pensive: I was referring only to the lore experience that the game has to offer, because I take it for granted that today we only use SC2 as a custom modes (and I had no idea how it works here :grimacing:)

However, I was talking about the graphic anachronism that exists between SC1 and SC2 despite the great artistic care on the frames and various stuff. Rigid animations (especially the faces), dated lighting and above all the final cutscene with Kerrigan (very different from today’s version) show all the technical limitations of 90’s graphic technologies.
Nowadays, doing even a little you can still get better effects, albeit modest compared to the opening movies of SC2. for me it is simply a flaw for the “perfect remastered” (intended for those who follow the graphic continuity of the lore)

But maybe I don’t know enough about the discomfort you feel on the technical and managerial side of the game in its development. However, I hope that in its small way this feedback reflects a graphic desire appreciated by the community.
