Launch StarCraft Remastered. Multiplayer-> Starcraft Expansion. Local Area Network (UDP) -> My profile -> Create Game, open a folder, choose a map -> OK
Many times the resulting boxes are empty. No list of players to set. No preview of the map. Ok is greyed out. Other times it gives me a list of players but the race and color buttons for each are missing. Or only appear after waiting for many seconds. When they are there, it often doesn’t seem to register my changes for a half dozen seconds. Like selecting a color doesn’t remove the color from the list for other players for awhile, and won’t give me the option to hit OK.
I don’t even have other players involved yet, this is happening even if I tried to make a game of myself vs all cpus.
Much of the time this happens, on first launching the game the little StarCraft Remastered image top right flashes and then disappears and that box is blank. Other times it happens the image was there originally, but after failing to create a game if I go back it’s gone. Sometimes when I click the map to select it, but before saying Ok to go into the lobby, I can see the map in the preview, other times not.
Windows 10. Version 1.23.8.9651. Reboot doesn’t help. Uninstall and reinstall doesn’t help. The game will just start working fine again for long stretches even (a week+) and then stop working for long stretches. No idea if related, but I also end up with a dozen or more “Blizzard Browser” processes in my Task Manager that persist even if I exit Battle.net. Tried a new profile, no help.
When it is happening the “Options” button will cause the game to just sit there and never get the Options window up.

we have the same problem…since last update Lan game not work. pls repair it
Hey there,
We’ve seen a few other reports of issues playing LAN games recently, so it’s possible there’s an issue going on that’s causing the Ok button to remain greyed out like you describe.
We’ll check this out and if I hear any updates I’ll be sure to share them in this thread.
Thanks!
Also, the Battle net option the Ok is greyed out with no list of servers beneath it, when this happens.
Is there any kind of known conflict with anti-virus or the like?
Are you fix it? post 2 days ago but nothing update from you please update this issue
This worked before the update to 1.23.8, on whichever update was running about 3 weeks ago… I’ve been playing with my kids quite regularly for about a year now. It is not a networking issue.
It doesn’t work on win7 or win10, nor does it work on original nor expansion. Doesn’t work with the firewall off or on. It does not work with green eggs and ham…It does not work, SamIam.
Update: Looks like it doesn’t work on the paid version or the free version. Doesn’t work between two paid, paid/free, nor both free.
@fizzypizzy, How do I make a separate installation and rollback to version 1.16?

6/24/21 was the first time I noticed that I was able to see a created LAN game, but I was unable to select it and the OK button was greyed out. I played the previous week on a LAN game. I’m not sure what is going on here, but it is very disappointing. I have been playing with my brother over a VPN for years now without a problem and I have RM and he does not, so it shouldn’t matter if one person has RM and another does not. I tested it out again on my personal LAN (not over the VPN - internet) with the same problem, so the VPN or internet is also not the problem.

I can confirm that I’ve been playing LAN games with my kids using Remastered for a few years now and it’s never given us issues until today. We can see each other’s games on the network, but the “Ok” button to join is grayed out and clicking the game also has no effect. We played just two days ago, so I’m not sure why it’s suddenly an issue. I did however see an update to Remastered today happen briefly in the Battle.net launcher when I tried to launch the game. I think this is some sort of bug that was recently introduced. We’re using Battle.net currently, but LAN as always is much preferred. This definitely needs to be fixed.

I had the same situation with LAN… Switched to Asia server, “updated” and now I can play on LAN again… go figure. I checked my network, configurations on firewalls, etc… Very fishy situation.

Same here friends. We’ve been doing the same thing for over a year and the “ok” button is greyed.

Yeah, my kids and I had to update on 6/24, as well, and haven’t been able to play together, since. I submitted a bug report (you guys should, too) so it will hopefully gain some traction.
I’m going to try your solution. Will update shortly.
Update: YES! That works. It appears to rollback the version to 1.23.8.9411 from 9651 and 9588 @GrantDavies, if that helps you guys resolve it.

Same problem here, on LAN the ok button is grayed out!
Until the last update, we played safely on the local network. After the last update, we see the created network game, but can not enter it. That is, we see the line like “LAN_player_name 5/8”, but it is impossible to click on it.
Having the same issue here. Since patch last week LAN games are broken. We can see a game created but the OK button to join is greyed out. MacOS.

Same here, had to update to 1.23.8.9651 to play, but LAN game OK button is greyed out. It is very irritating to have to update to play then find out it ha bugs !@!@#@!#!@#
Same issue here. Same subnet… windows firewall is disabled… antivirus disabled… OK is greyed out. This is quite frustrating…
Same here, used to work fine, now doesn’t: can see the game created, can’t select it, OK greyed out.
We have had the same issue. When will it be repaired? Will it be repaired? Also What is up with the Chinese pop ups when I have to play on Battle-net now since LAN isn’t working? We are having to play on battle-net even though we are on the same router.
Thanks for the info. By changing the region on Battle.net you are rolling back the update. This fix worked for me, for now.
We have the same problem, Latam 1.23.8.9411
