Blizzard could you PLEASE fix those bugs?

2100mmr Protoss player here. I get really annoyed by the following bugs and I absolutely dont understand why they were never fixed:

  • Goon-bug: You have a group of goons and you move them back and forth while using the attack command or right-click move. If the shooting sequence gets interrupted the whole group stops moving and stops responding to any further comand until you reset by clicking hold. This can easily cost you the game and its just really really annoying.

  • Reaver bug: The reaver has generally a wide shooting range but on certain angles on the map the shooting range is reduced by half or even more than that and its really hard to tell when that is the case. It usually happens when there is a cliff in between: You target an enemy unit with the reaver and while its easily in range it will just keep moving torwards that unit and once its almost face to face with it, it will begin to shoot. This also tends to happen when theres a choke and the reaver is facing it from a certain angle, it just cant shoot up or down within its normal range: In that case enemy units with a way smaller range suddenly have a higher range than the reaver. This cant be intended and it will frequently cost you games because you just cant afford to lose a unit like that on a higher level. YES, it hardly happens to pros but it happens even to them sometimes and their way of coping with it seems to be that they understand most spots where it happens and then they adapt but WHY NOT JUST FIX THAT BUG? Its not like any of these bug fixes are going to throw off the balance of the game. Besides, statistically P is the weakest race, fixing those two unneccesary bugs would be the least you can do.

please please do and thanks!

If I recall correctly the goon bug was fixed, but the community wanted it back, so they brought it back. I think this was the case with other bugs as well.

Really? Why would anyone want it back? That doesnt make sense to me at all

I think it’s because people got so used to it, and it’s because it’s a matter of skill on how to unfreeze them. Personally, I like buggy Starcraft.

The only bugfix I can think of that the game has is from engine limitations namely sprite limits that prevent units (most notably Valkyries) from attacking when there’s too many units on the map.

Otherwise if you start changing thing about this game then it’s no longer a remaster but a remake and becomes another example of the grandfather clock idiom where if you start replacing the parts of the clock, at what point do you still have the same clock you started with? on a related note before release Blizzard originally asked the pro players if Remastered should have new balance updates and all of them said no.

Along with the previous reasons shared, the game is no longer getting any development beyond adding maps and occasionally addressing server issues. There really aren’t any employees left with RTS experience and even seemingly minor changes to a game this old can have unexpected effects elsewhere that need to be addressed.

The whole development philosophy for Remastered was “Don’t break it” and these unit behaviors weren’t considered to be broken by the community.
