Any Update on BWAPI Support?

I’d love to use some of the custom AIs that are working for 1.16.1, but unfortunately that version doesn’t play nice with my system.

I’ve heard that these will never be compatible with SC:R unless Blizzard improves support for BWAPI (supposedly promised way-back-when). Have we had any news on this?

Thanks!

No, Bli  ard put it in the bottom of the priorities, personally I think BWAPI support to SCR will never happen, and I’m very happy with StarCraft v1.16 :yum:, why it doesn’t play nice on your system ?

Thanks! I’ve spent a LONG time trying to get 1.16 to run well, but so far have found the experience really poor on my hardware. For a while, I wasn’t able to get the game to run at all, but resolution fixes, downscaling my monitor, adjusting to 4:3, running through the Shnail launcher, and Nvidia settings helped with that.

Unfortunately, now what I have is a game with insane mouse sensitivity that seems to run… sluggishly? Like it’s capped at 20 FPS or less. The hassle of having to mess with so many PC settings each time I want to play really doesn’t help either.

I’ll take a look at the post you linked and maybe give it another shot. Thanks again!

I’ve a lot of experience with sc 1.16, I don’t like the 4:3 scale, I like the game screen stretched to fill the whole space, just like SCR, with no black border right/left, you can stretch scale on your nVIDIA settings…

The only issue I still face is that with Resolution Expander, the replay runs slightly slower.

I said it once and i will say it again, for me at least the “best” option for SC 1.16 is to have a “borderless virtual machine” which state is saved “within the game”. Personally i like playing SC in a window mode with a height that touches my windows task bar down upper part there and a width that makes the game reasonably positioned with the Resolution Expander. Another thing that i do is to use the SCBW game launch trigger to make the Virtual Machine mouse called inside, its a small script that makes my mouse in wherever i am back in position in the middle of the VM game window.

What are the advantages of my setup:

Pros:

  1. I one click the Virtual Machine (Windows xp sp3) button and i am inside the game , a window appears in the right position of my HOST screen with no borders and ready to play (No menu)

  2. I can save different states, for instance, i have some with BWAPI bots loaded that are already running on minimized multinstance windows etc. Everything setup, i have the state just to press OK.

  3. I can move the mouse in an out of the window, just like SC:R when in window mode.

  4. I can access my SC:R maps folder by sharing folder between virtual machine host and client

cons:

  1. I have not tried this for a long time but when the connection is “bridged” the games done over ICCUP (Already death) are really REALLY slow.

  2. I have a weird bug with mouse where if when playing a game i click the hotkey to move the mouse outside of the VM when i am back mouse is fu$%& up and things wont click correctly.

Personally to play BW 1.16 in windows 10 i advice to 100% play it with virtual machine and obviously chaos launcher, that is my advice to have BWAPI running for sure, also i made like 4 different OS and one change of PC and i just load my virtual machine harddrive and file, and is ready to go.
