Any American Only Private Servers?

Ex Masters Rank 1 in SC2, I got bored with SC2 because of how easy executing builds are and how dumbed down the micro is in comparison with broodwar so I became interested and excited to learn brood war but off the bat, I found the latency/lag is quite disgusting. A key major difference I’ve noticed between the two games. I thought the game engine was at fault but the main reason was because of player locations and lack of region lock.

I’m playing against Europeans/Russians/Asians on US East/West Ladder which destroys my flow of playing and my overall experience with the game. SC2 babied me with 20 ping and now I’m averaging from 250-300 ping games while in the US on the US Ladder…

I just don’t understand why anyone would want to play any server besides the one closest to them on 1v1 ladder.

Is there a private server dedicated to Americans only or is playing with 250 ping just a normal thing in a remastered game released in 2017?

And you should only care about turn rate (not pings) that determines the game smoothness, if its 24 then its perfect, lower is worse.

What is ping ?

People want to play this game, that is why most dont care about lagg and stuff…
Problem is often there is a lack of players in certain regions/ at certain times… Like for example in Europe there is basicly no players at night … So the immigrade to other regions mainly US west since there is best connection in comparasion to the other servers, excluding European obviously.
The biggest player base server/Gateway wise is in Southkorea, Asia and Westamerica. In reality though, real numbers are as followers more or less…
Southkorea biggest number, than there are many Hubbs(USA,Peru,Russia,Germany,China,Bulgaria.etc) around the world… This often lead to lagg on certain gateway since they are not supported as much or live inregions with bad internet/ away of those gateways.
For example on West american server you will find much lagg since one of the biggest communities is in southamerica Peru + the rest. You could even argue there are more southamerican players than northamerican players on the westamerican server and specially the internet in Peru seems really bad for many players.
Ladder otherwise is global, though daytime wise you will find certain players of certain nationaility more often at certain hours. Also VPNs, proxy server etc. will influence this. Aswell as connection quality, rank, etc. i suppose.
So in other words you will need to play at the right time … LOL… If it is that there enought players near you.

Ladder Matchmaking is global so gateway is irrelevant.
Overall lobby ping/latency determines the turn rate while it’s set to dynamic.

It really does suck about playing with people from other countries. And it’s not just SC that suffers from this either.

I am of the opinion that live pvp multiplayer games should be region and or ping locked.

It ruines smoothness for players who are playing in their correct regions.

Sadly you cant do anything about it or you’ll be branded racist.
The American servers draw in people from mexico south America. Canada, and all thr European countries and folks all the way from Australia.

It sucks, and it has made me form a negative opinion about gamers based in those locations.
Because these people are allowed to break the game for everyone and nobody is allowed to do or say anything.

Its ridiculous, and we should have more filtering for all games.

Unfortunately, the answer is no. It is sad but there is no way to enjoy this game w/o lag if you live in the U.S. Every single game, you have to set the latency to high and still fear the lag worsening.

Lol, what garbage are you talking about lol … All people complain about southamericans in the West american server… Why do you claim it is not permited even though all people do it… From artosis to the last no name…
Also i dont get why you need to put politics in something and claim non sense, when it is clearly not the case.
An other point is the fact, that when you host your own lobby you can, ban let stay any people you want. You even see there latency/ connection…
It is just “SAD”, to see people use problems that are not related or dont really relate to certain problems to confirm their world view.

Also in all seriouness, what you say doesnt make any sense at all, why ? Well i have heard any possbile s. on any gateway, so to claim that you are not allowed to say anything about the problem of latency in connection to gateway to real location is just a joke. Specially when you are on the forum and your comment hasnt been deleted or otherwise.

The real problem obviously arent the players, but the fact that on one hand there arent enought players, so you get matched with anyone. Secondly that there arent Gateways for southamericans,etc.
If you dont want players from other countries either play alone, vs ais, create your own lobbies. Connect via chat groups for example on Battlenet or discord to play with those players that are from your COUNTRY or whatever. Otherwise what is even the point of complaining on a global accessing forum, on a global ladder made for matching all people on earth and ranking their skills. Why do you even play ladder than?

I have seen people talking about this since the Release of SC Remastered.It does not hurt to clarify certain points in here as the thread is growing and is good to Educate People about this a little bit more.

PING is not something that matters in SC Remastered as THERE IS NO CENTRAL SERVER and the game runs on what is called P2P or Peer to Peer.

Long story short Peer to Peer means “Blizzard has no responsibility on the connection between 2 computer, as there is NO SERVER WHEN THE GAME STARTS”. and there is no fileable way for Blizzard to Filter IP based on countries because Blizzard does not care about the NAT complexity of the P2P connection.

And there is a good reason for this, P2P is WEIRD AND IS MOST LIKELY IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHICH SIDE “LAGS” MORE, because there is NO CENTRAL SERVER, ONCE THE CONNECTION IS STABLISHED BLIZZARD HAS NO CONTROL ON IT

There is something called a STUN SERVER WHICH ONLY OBJECTIVE IS TO KEEP THE ROUTERS SYNCRONIZED AND THE CONNECTIONS STABLE ENOUGH EVEN THEN UDP PACKAGES MIGHT GET LOST IN HOPS.

Now why is this important to mention, because (And here is the important thing to gather from all of this) A LATINO PLAYING IN PERU WILL HAVE TURN RATE 20 WITH A GERMAN OR SOMEONE FROM CALIFORNIA BUT THEN TURN RATE 8 WITH SOMEONE FROM TEXAS OR NEW YOKR, why you ask?:

HAS NO REAL MEANING

You could grab whatever IP a person is connecting to SC to (Considering how complicated NAT is to start with) and ping that person and you will get long waiting times, but when the game starts… you are Turn Rate 24, why you ask?. "AGAIN LAG IS AN IRRELEVANT TERM FOR P2P CONNECTIONS, ESPECIALLY FOR GAMES THAT ARE PLAYED WITH MORE THAN ONE PERSON LIKE CUSTOMER 2v2 GAMES AS THERE IS NO CENTRAL SERVER TO PING, AND NOT EVERYONE HAS A PUBLIC IP TO PING, AND WATHEVR YOU PING IS IRRELEVANT TO DETERMINE LAG"

To calculate “LAG” in P2P you need to take in consideration Jitter, NAT-Lag, PING to a webservice that is determine to be in a node X-distance from both points (or all points in a 2v2 3v3 game) etc.

People in Peru have turn rate 20 with someone from Korea (Korea has amazing fiber infrastructure) and will have Turn Rate 8 from someone from Ontario.

So what could be done?, well simple, Blizzard should recollect the “HISTORY” of players with bad connections and give the people the option to filter them, not by IP or “REGION” as i explained that is pointless, but i agree 100% that people with Turn 8 with a Tons of players from different regions should get flagged non-explicitly and the algorithm should pair them with people with the same Turn Rate (Not based on region).

Do all people from Latin America have bad connections, the answer is NO, do all people from Latin America ALWAYS have TR 8-12, the answer is NO. That is something that you could say from a game that has a central server (Datacenter or CDN) located NOT in Latin America, from a game that decided not to invest in the region. STARCRAFT REMASTERED DOESNT WORK THAT WAY; IF YOU LIVE IN A STATE IN THE US THAT HAS BAD CONNECTION TO THE OURSIDE WORLD THAT IS MUCH YOUR FAULT AS IT IS THE OTHER NODES FAULT, THERE IS NO REGION TO BLAME.

You really like to make sht up. I wasn’t blaming anyone but blizzard for not implementing a ping limiter. Why would I blame someone who has no control. You can’t honestly be this stupid…

You do realize custom games also have a ping limiter and did you know custom games are also P2P? That alone destroys your entire argument.

Plus, fighting games such as Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7 also use P2P and they also have a ping limiter for their Ranked/Matchmaking.

Hey, The100YOU & PsYChiC are the 2 most knowledgeable/helpful guys here, without them I honestly think this forum will be a bit stupid/lost, I still learn from both of them, The100YOU might need to less the use of BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS plz :pleading_face: :sob:, and stop dreaming the game will be better by more efforts from Bli :zzz:ard.
