Why can't Adepts shot air?

Marines don’t teleport.

Protoss is not allowed to have good units?

Marine:
45 HP
9,8 DPS
0 Armor
3.15 Speed
Abilities:
None

Upgrades:
Stimpack: -10HP +50% attack speed and movement speed
Shield: +10HP

Adept:
140HP
6.2 DPS +7.45 vs Light
1 Armor
3.5 Speed
Abilities:
Shade

Upgrades:
Glaves: +45% permanent attack speeed

So, 3X HP, 1.5X DPS vs light, 1 more armor, upgrade without backdraws, active ability for scouting and retreat, more movement speed, regenerating shields and you say its not good unit without attacking air, huh… Marine has DPS it has because without medivac for support, you can not stim. Adept is better in all other ways both cost and suply wise while regenerating its own shields.

If you made adepts shoot air, these changes would need to be made: Glaives now active ability, costs 31 shields to activate. Shields now do not regenerate for adept, Shade removed, +Light bonus removed, Basic dmg brought up to 2X that of marine. Why not 3X when it costs 100/25? Because you can build it literally in enemy base. If warp in was dissabled, I would be for bringing DPS up to 3X that of marine.

and marines kill adepts on equal supply/upgrades because?

First of all I never said Adepts is a bad unit, idk why your Terran brain got triggered for a question that a Protoss asked in a forum.

Second of all what you said is total bs since Adept only get advantage to Marines in 1v1 or super small amount of units, because of a bunch factors you completely ignore: Marines don’t have to worry about overkill, they cost only minerals, they have half suply, they need almost half the time to train, so compare 1 Marine with 1 Adept is totaly a bs argument. And you are whining about shield healing? Realy???

Third, Idk why I’m wasting my time responding to this kid but I bit the bait.

Adepts also don’t teleport.

While the adept has good dps and is also tanky as you state its dmg value is because of the massiv overkill vs it’s supposed to counter light targets a massiv drawback
aswell the fact they have 4 range that makes it really easy take dmg in bigger groups while the overkill is still heavy aswell the healing aspect is negated vs any units with range since they are frontline units and die early and its unlikely to have zealots and adepts in one army

you simply can’t not compare 2 units in a assymtrical game

also if you had adepts as you stated that shoot air had 2x basic dmg of marines and so on it would be way better than the marine because its less hurt by splash
btw adepts would have around 0.5Armor because the armor applies only on hp

as for shooting air itself it wouldn’t be as bad as a change since it would allow more playstyles
it would also break pvp phoenix meta open which is annoying

while “if they could shoot air” it doesn’t change anything how to deal with them its not like you need Flying units to deal with them

the whole point is either adept or zealot it overshadowed by each other because both fight the same units well
by giving it the abillity to shoot air you can split them of while it would less overlap with the stalker due to different strenghs vs the air units
while stalker would also stay better sniping units while adepts have more the abillity to push&scout into the opponent since they are cheaper to replace

That meme “adepts are anti-light” is on the Top 10 BS Blizzard propaganda. Put equal cost/supply of adepts with light units of Terran/Zerg and the meme is debunked…
The most hilarious MoronTeam BS was the argument for nerffing Stalker: The Stalker was strengthened (with the same DPS) so much (!!!) that it eclipsed/shadowed …the adept.
One has to take the BS propaganda of Moronteam and whineterran as a fact of life …

And with medivacs, the marines become as durable as a unit with twice the health, at least against single target.

You also forgot to account for cost, most notably gas cost, the weakness of adepts against armoured targets, and most importantly, range. Adepts have 4 range, marines have 5.

One role that adepts can perform in the main Protoss ground army is as support for Disruptor-Centric warfare (when one fields 8-12 Disruptors in the battlefield). While the Balls cause carnage in the terran-ground, it is not optimal to dispatch the small remainings of terran-sh.i.t with Novas. Also, the 4-Range of the Adept makes possible the elimination of the Nova-explosion friendly-fire that unlike the Storm is deadly for the Protoss.

Running your zealots through storm is pretty bad for your winrate. I wouldn’t recommend it.

:grinning:
My choice of words was correct. Telling that Storm is not deadly does not imply that it is harmless. There are cases in the battlefield that you cast a delayed Storm (Templar Storms but the place is beyond the Storn-Range). Usually this accounts for 30-40% of the cases when a Protoss Storms his own units…

But beyond the fine-points, you are right!

Yeah, I usually move command my Templar to clear the queue if the storm hasn’t landed within half a second. The habit is so ingrained I do it even in co-op where storms actually heal your army.

That strictly depends on the opponent’s DPS.

Shade is a teleport mechanic.

It’s stupid, but it’s probably so that Terran Bio can survive early Adept pressure.

At this point, I have no problem with the adept shooting up.

The game is so homogenized at this point, might as well just give every race a marine unit.

Definition of teleportation is as fallow " Teleportation is the theoretical transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them ."[Wiki]

By the above definition, Adept is not teleporting because the shade is traversing the physical space.

I think that is a wonderful idea and making the upgrade even more important.

No it’s not a good idea. Protoss has stalkers which do decent dmg against most air targets, plus Archons which melt mutas. Protoss has more than enought to deal with aerial threats.

marines marines marines marines marines marines marines

They should be able to. But Blizz would rather make all toss players rely on the ultimate made out of glass unit, the stalker. As the only anti-air.

Very sad. Very sad indeed. And I’ve always said, Robo should have a unit that hits air. But, no. Just keep making glass stalkers and losing GSL CODE S’s.
