Question on Coop Mutation Achievement

So I’m currently grinding brutal mutations to get the achievement of completing 150 brutal mutation missions and was wondering for anyone who have completed it.

  1. Does the achievement continues counting after beating the brutal mutation mission once? Or do I have to wait every week for the weekly mutation to change inorder to complete the achievement?
  2. What are the easiest brutal mutations from the weekly rotation?

Yes. It’s how many times you’ve won, of which there is no limit to that.

That’s in contrast to the one that gets awarded if you’ve earned 200 Mutation bounties, of which this can only be earned up to 4 times per week (one for each of the 4 difficulty levels, since the game caps those to once per week)

Much of it will depend on your skill level, the skill level of your ally, what COs you have available, what prestiges you have available, mastery points, etc. Some COs and their appropriate prestige’s really trivialize even the tougher ones. And even then, it can be much better to use a CO you’re familiar with on a Mutation that’s not as suitable, rather than use a CO you’re lousy at if it’s deemed “great”.

The current schedule is here and won’t change since development long ceased…

… Highlighted in green is the current week. Note the Brutal rating of +1 to +6. The higher the number, the more difficult it is. However, this is only based on their individual mutators. It doesn’t take into account that some mutators that are otherwise mild, can really give you a hard time since they combine into something that causes a “the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts” situation. So a Brutal+3 can be much more difficult than a Brutal+4.

Brutal+? use ‘?’ because those contain individual mutators that never received a weight value. Here on these forums, you may be able to get the community’s take.

Some of them are labeled as “not really brutal” because they’re easy. I’ve done a few of those and it wasn’t that much more difficult vs. a “regular Brutal”. THOSE are the ones you ESPECIALLY want to spam for the achievement!

Oh this is very helpful! ty

Yeah I’m looking at ones that is not too intense because I do enjoy brutation challenges that are fun to spam or just right up in my alley.

Back in a day there was an April Fools mutation that basically forced two players’ commanders into PvP with each other. The funniest thing there was, it counted as a win no matter if you won or lost it. So, you could just make your initial workers kill your primary structure, and boom, you lose immediately, netting yourself +1 to this achievement.

All mutations since then go through a repeated cycle. I’m not sure if this one will be there, but if it will be — you might want to abuse it as well.

The April Fools mutation was a one-day thing and was never repeated.

Except multiple wins never counted twice for the achievement. It’s 150 unique mutation victories on Brutal, takes just about 3 years if you don’t miss a week.

The description is…
Complete 150 weekly Mutation challenge missions on Brutal difficulty.

This can be done multiple times in the same week. I did just this very thing and attest that it can go up multiple times per week.

Again, this is stark contrast to…
Earn 200 bounty rewards in the weekly Mutation Challenge.
… emphasis mine, which can only be once per week since bounties are only awarded once per week (total 4, one per each of the difficulty levels)

Just try and win any brutation twice in a row, you’ll see the counter going up +2 :person_shrugging:
