Post/Thread Count and links

What’s with the limitation on being able to post links? Someone told me that we can’t link anything without a certain number of posts or threads created?

Correct, see: The Ultimate Forum Guide (Codes, Trust Levels, FAQ) - General Discussion - Overwatch Forums

I’m really not sure how I feel about this. Also 20000 posts seems like an absurd number to go for.

20,000 post just for links?

EZ, lets play that one word story game, but to make things interesting, we must end all comments to the story with “There is a protoss sni-”

This will really hamper recruitment efforts for a lot of Starcraft clans. I can’t post my discord server without checking the forums almost every other day for 100 days? that is pretty insane

You can post the discord link if you just leave off the http, aka discord.gg/Zf2Rxs

It took me about 6 years of posting to collect over 20,000 posts in the old forum. No way I am going to bother reaching that post count again just to post links. That is an idiotic rule, plain and simple.

Yeah I’ve just been doing the https:// as a seperate line and its been working… just would be nice not to have to do that.

I looked into TheSkunk’s link and it is 20,000 posts read to post links rather than 20,000 posts, which is a lot more reasonable. Like right now I have read ten times more posts than made posts so it is an achievable goal in the near future at least.

Hey all,

There’s a new post up that explains the new forum features:

Until you can post limited hyperlinks at TL2 and any hyperlink at TL3, you can post un-hyperlinked links by enclosing it in the “Prefomatted Text” markdown (the </> button on the toolbar).

Example:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/sc2/t/post-thread-count-and-links
It’s not clickable, but at least you don’t have to break the URL up.

So basically if I had a replay (or a bunch of replays) that I wanted to link, Id have to do that? Seems a little short sighted but sure, I guess.

Also, how would I do that on my phone? And would I have to do that for each individual link (if I wanted to have a bunch of replays, for instance)?

Right. It ends up being similar to the old forums: can post links, just unclickable. The new feature of clickable hyperlinks comes after gaining trust levels.

On a phone, there’s the same buttons above the reply field so you should be able to highlight the text as usual and tap the Preformatter Text button. As for multiple links/lines it behaves a little different, but still works. It essentially puts them all in a code block, but the result is the same: unaltered urls that can copied and pasted as is.

RIP Skunks MVP status :frowning:

Either there’s some sort of bug or simply an incorrect statement. I’ve linked to battle.net and youtube as a test, and others in the other forums post hyperlinks as well. I think Blizzard lowered the scale somewhere for our sakes. Maybe the levelage comes from other forum usage, but I cannot prove that. It seems odd / buggy though that I cannot now post links in this thread when I just did earlier today. Maybe there’s a limit but here’s proof I can do it already.

Even odder that battle.net linked up there, but when I selected text and used ctrl + K to embed a link in text later on in the editing of this post, it blocked that, saying I cannot post links. There’s certainly some inconsistencies to sort out.
