Gotta think of a new mission type that works for co-op. The non RTC maps pulled every type from campaign so all that’s left is a destroy everything map.
I like another’s suggestion of some kind of Zerg themed mission, since all others have been Protoss/Terran.
I don’t usually prefer defense missions, but yeah I actually wouldn’t mind a new hold-down map too!
I have my old “Operation: Brainstorm” map out there but that needs updating (and I’ve locked it, so I have to find my old computer with the source files) - that is a ‘destroy everything’ map based on “Eye of the Storm” from the original StarCraft. It also has a Zerg announcer in the form of Broodmother Naktul.
I’m also attempting to design a ‘fight to the death’ map as well. There is an objective in that you have to protect a particular building for a certain amount of time akin to Temple of the Past, and after that, there’s a bonus objective for surviving for an additional 6 minutes. Once you succeed there, you can fight for as long as you like! And if this sounds familiar… it’s based off “In Utter Darkness”, only the bonus objective is the primary objective and vice versa.
P.S. I do need some tips though… there is a particular trigger set-up for allowing “Test Document” to work with such Co-op maps, but I can’t remember what it was. It was explained during RTC 2017, but I can’t find the post or open Operation: Brainstorm to see how I did it then.
I agree with you 100%, the minimum 15 characters is annoying. And yes new maps please.
The one mission I truly want is some sort of Sky Shield themed mission, be it either a defense mission or hold out or some other inspired mechanic, but a mission where you play on a station that is slowly falling out of orbit is truly cool aesthetically.
It was one of my favorite missions visually in the campaign, and I would love to get a coop counterpart with that same awesome aesthetic.
As long as we dont get anymore maps that cant be speedran Im down.

Flashpoint from the Nova Mission Pack. Can be adapted in a lot of different ways and it’s unique from the map pool.
I’ll still pitch my idea to turn the Warfield FMV cutscene from WoL campaign into a Mission. Rush out to where Warfield is (or any other character really), then dig in and defend him and that area. You need hold out for ‘x’ amount of time, but are allowed to lose some structures as some margins of error.

Please add more coop maps. It would be great. I love this game and coop is my favorite to play with a friend. Each time I’ve stopped playing SC2 for a while it was because I got tired of the coop maps. I have all but the latest commanders at 15, I stopped buying more, because i just don’t care to keep playing the same maps over and over and over. Open it up! Tens of of new maps, hundreds of maps! lock leveling/achievements to official only, or whatever, who cares? Just add more maps.
Necros technically are not good, but making a thread with a recycled theme (this topic has come up several times) is also not good.
It would be great if the forum mods clarified the existence time when a thread falls into the “do not necro” length, and when is it okay since the last thread to make a new thread with the same topic as an older thread.
In this particular case, since literally everybody wants more coop maps, though I am not a mod, I personally would argue it can be forgiven that the topic comes back to the top of the thread list since everybody wants more maps. If the mods have a particular want to see it done in a particular way, I am all ears.

I wabt a co-op version of the WoL map where your base was on a moving platform and you had to pysically move the location of your base forward along tbe map to progress the objective. That was cool.
I’d also like to see the “hold for as long as you can” type map, where the objective isn’t destroy all infested, but literally just survive. You technically win by lasting 18 minutes or so, possibly with a bonus that lowers that amount of time, but the map doesn’t end until you actively decide to end it. Like maybe add a beacon that appears at the end, and standing on it will end the map, but we can stay there Defending for longer if we want to.
I am pretty sure the move-the-base-via-platform mission is Karax’s “proving mission” in Legacy of the Void… the one after which Artanis declares that the caste system is a thing of the past and he’s achieved as much as any Templar and is therefore Templar. I agree it would be a very interesting choice, especially since you’d have to divvy up map destinations with your partner.
Do you mean the mission in Wings of Liberty where you have to fly your base from place to place due to the star going nova in a few hours and the planet with your objective is burning up, and the flames are rapidly moving?
I would like to bump this thread to the Starcraft 2 Devo team as well; Co-op Missions are an enjoyable, profitable feature of the game. If Blizzard were to continue supplying their clients with more Co-op maps, they would receive much more player retention.
I do want to thank the Devo team for their new Co-op commanders. I am adamant about the numerous commanders that we are given. I have paid for them all and played them to level 15 and it’s enjoyable! The only thing I would say is it would be way more fun to have some new maps to go with them. Just like how regular SC2 Melee seasons bring in new maps every cycle, maybe we can add in new Co-op maps as well!
I know money is a big factor in any business, so let me tell you this, Blizzard . . . I would pay money for a bundle of new, difficult-to-beat maps. If you make new Co-op maps, you will retain more players and make a healthy margin as well.
You all never disappoint; I have been an active Blizzard gamer for more than half my life.

I think a bundle of maps for like 5-10 dollars would be very well received.
The only concern I have is, people who have not bought the maps must have some way to continue playing coop. If that’s not done, the community will sour on the idea, and I don’t think just a little.
Bundled pay to play maps are a big no-no, as Cyber has discussed in his other thread about it being 426~ since the last map released.
It’s bad enough new players are already faced with buying LotV + $60~ worth of COs if they want to experience it all. Adding more costs onto a new player’s experience would be incredibly discouraging.
Id love to see some kind of “gather x amount of minerals/gas in the required time period” with salvage minerals/gas scattered around, ala wings of liberty’s cutthroat.
The problem with destroy everything maps is they get easier as you go, not harder. Especially if you make Amon play fair and build his own units.
That’s probably because Zerg don’t really have room for named characters who aren’t commander material.
Good news! There’s currently unused mission data in the game files for a Co-op mission named “The Sky is Falling” which is identical to Sky Shield.
Bad news is it’s been there since 2015 and nothing’s been done with it.
