Nice post. Yeah, I think most things come down to networking and more promotion usually trumps no promotion. Who gets the promotion? Streamers. What do streamers tend to be? Psychopaths. I’ve learned this the “hard way.” I wish I was “just messing around.” So, you really end up with people with the least amount of integrity having the most sway/influence.
They can create any narrative they want. It’s basically just like MSM. If a person isn’t given any alternative source of information or actual reality, then people are at the mercy of psychopaths, basically. At best… all eggs are in one basket, so the “news people” better care an iota about truth if you don’t want to live in fantasy land.
In all my time of playing SC 2 and having had the misfortune of talking to some streamers… the only positive I can say about any of them is… Hupsaiya says some real things, from the heart, here and there. Only person in the scene. Everyone else is flat out in on a scam 24/7 and is absolutely heartless. It’s hard to put into words. Not pleasant stuff to think about.
You know what bothers me about the maxpax thing kinda more than anything? He didn’t even do the build correctly. It was completely missing the “genius component,” so I was kinda taken aback that it was still considered that… Every person I tried to teach that build, when I’d tell them what to do… they would always do it how Max did it, years later, because… it’s the intuitive way.
It’s just kinda amusing how little curiosity people have. You’d think people might actually ask me about some of these builds… If I don’t know the origin or how they’re supposed to work, who does?
You know what the actual genius of the build was supposed to be? You weren’t supposed to hide your gateway.

It maximized your ability to scout/stop your opponents proxies, because you would usually by pass their worker if they were going to proxy you. Or a worker would pass by your gateway and you could deduce if they were proxying, if they never arrived at your base.

Before I started doing this, a proxy gateway ALWAYS meant an all-in, so it didn’t matter if someone scouted your gateway. They would, invariably, end up over defending. If they didn’t scout… you’d kill their expansion and win the game. It was a win/win build this way.
But… since we decided to worship a poser or something… who knows whether people needed to stop doing it or not. As is… it would lose to proxies if you did it how he does it.
I spent around a year trying out all of the variations. There’s nothing new to me. “You guys” are simply worshiping something I knew to be inferior.
After I solved how to properly open and how many units to make and follow up, etc, etc. Guess what happened? I was top 10 GM and I had the highest P vs T win rate for multiple seasons in GM. Do you think I didn’t understand that this was the best build in the game? Do you think maxpaxy created it before he had even started playing SC 2? Hmm…
It’s just so silly. It just goes to show how much you can do and it’s still “impossible to matter,” without having the good graces of the psychopaths. That’s what it boils down to. Real respects real… Fakes fear real people. Especially ones with facts that make them look less or expose them as frauds.
When I get around to playing… I’ll try to finish up P vs T, and hopefully make a case for “owning the Toss meta,” and provide a way for all to benefit and hopefully those who might create better builds going forward can follow the same blueprint, so to speak.
There really needs to be more review and consideration before people annoint people geniuses and “so and so created this build.” It takes way too much time to come up with a “genius build,” to just willy nilly name it after someone in a random fashion, at best, and have it stick forever cause “that’s how it’s supposed to work.” That’s so stupid. It needs to stop. It’s just fraud. Turning people into con men and stealing in multiple ways from others.
Me… I’m always interested in if someone did “one of my builds” before me… I’d like to know their thought process. No one talks about anything interesting. No one is even curious about the reason behind strats. They don’t even need to know what the strategy solves, why it was created, nor if it’s viable before they call it awesome and the person behind it a genius… if they meet some magical criteria that clearly doesn’t fit me…
If KingCobra is a genius, then I must be a super genius x5. Everyone could use some of this kinda promotion in their life. Must be nice…
