It’s soo much better designed compared to IT’s, it just needs some buffs to really be worth it.
The reverse is true. The whiners will be enraged that zergs win rate will go up and that theirs will go down, and it will be my fault for having pointed it out to them.
I doubt that.
Losing air armies to plain mass Infestor versus losing air armies to Hydralisks or Queens because we failed to handle our splash damage or other support properly. The former is far more frustrating, whether the latter happens more often or not.
Well put. Losing in broodwar feels bad cuz you lost.
Losing in sc2 often feels like you lost 15 minutes ago because you missed your timing window to end the game.
You’ve been going through the motions in case your enemy badly screws up their control in the final engagement… but part of you knows they won’t.
I won’t claim this problem is going away any time soon… but blizzard is taking at least a modest step in the right direction with this spell.
The same exact thing is going to happen the difference is that the zergs Army is going to be cheaper.
Also made up of more fighting units instead of 20 spell casters.
Infestors are still going to be very good with Fungal and NP too.
The Zerg army is going to be cheaper, but it is also going to lose a few units that cost resources to replace that are fighting your air army; rather than just losing energy.
Raven is really good in tvt at all stages from an opening to lategame counter vs battlecruisers as well as midgame to disable tanks.
Nope. Skytoss armies lose to hydra lurker infestor extremely hard. Hydras now beat carriers and the new lurker hard counters templar so you can’t storm the hydras. If you think infested terrans are bad you’re in for a world of hurt.
This means by researching 2 upgrades as soon as hive finishes the zergs midgame tier 2 army beats skytoss. Previously you needed an ultra expensive brood+infestor army, and your midgame army was worthless. That meant minimal commitment to the midgame while rushing to late game. Now zergs can commit harder to the midgame and have a stronger lategame on the back of it while having a larger bank.
How many changes has the Raven had between now and lotv release? Also I wasn’t saying the Raven itself is useless but sometimes the balance team does take that approach.
This must be the worst idea I have seen in the recent times, the shroud is a big fat joke right now:
- Hive + long research so this is really just an end game spell
- 100 energy is GIGANTIC
- Duration, radius and -50% ONLY from air attacks is absolute sh!t as air units can just move away and you are left there with your useless out of energy festors. The next time you engage they are as good as dead. But hey, I guess they can tank some shots…
- The red marker is a huge target for storms and purification novas, yey! Wanna storm somewhere? Right here, buddy!
It is difficult to believe somebody would actually build infestors for this spell. This currently looks like a MASSIVE nerf. They absolutely must do something to buff this spell, or give infestor a consume ability (just rename it to defiler, ffs!) and still buff a bit the spell. If you haven’t tried it out, go ahead and do try it out. I don’t believe most of the people are so biased that they would say this is fine. Infestors were always the prefered AA of zerg because everything else pretty much sucks especially against maxed out air protoss army. Zerg needs something against mass air but this is not it.
Everyone supports an energy cost reduction to 75 for the ability and a duration increase. From the sound of what the balance team is saying, they are likely going to make it eventually reduce spell damage, be cast while burrowed and work on structures.
Where did you read/hear that? I must have missed it but that sounds a bit better indeed.
The raven is probably the unit that has seen most changes in lotv (maybe even wol) and i disagree that it seems the ballance seems to have found a spot for the raven where it has a role without being too strong.
If they fixed the anti armor missile for splash damage it might be too strong with liberators but it might also be more usefull vs mass air so it might be worth testing unless they already know the answer (its more that it feels non consistent to not apply to all attack types).
Well, yeah… but it literally states the first iteration will not work like that. I thought there was some additional information in some other post or something.
It’s what they are hinting at. Also it really really needs to cost 75 energy and last for 18 seconds. The biggest flaws using it is the energy cost and the duration.
I’m confused why it needs an upgrade.
I mean, I guess if we ignore how the Raven basically deletes the Collosus in TvP and how it’s absolutely instrumental in TvT it is useless. Similarly, if we ignore how Tanks do splash damage, they are also useless.
the infeator change is actually good. reminds me of blinding cloud by BW dilfers
