Brood Lord - Buff HP To Help Survive Snipe

As Brood Lord has 225 HP, it currently gets 2-shotted from Ghost Steady Targeting ability as it does 130 (+40 vs Psionic). To improve viability vs. Terran, this heavy-assault unit should have its health increased by 40 to barely take 3 hits instead of 2 as follows…

Brood Lord

  • Health increased from 225 to 265.

That looks like a bad idea all around. Also, I am fairly certain that Steady-Targeting was set to 130 +40 so that it would continue to two-shot Brood Lords while taking an additional hit to kill Ultralisks.

Dude give it a rest, your terrible at this.

Respectfully disagree. Brood Lord should be able to survive atleast three shots for such a high-tier unit. An alternate solution to explore could be to increase energy cost of Ghost’s Steady Targeting ability from 50 to 75 energy.

Why? Its a spell specifically designed to kill value targets like that.

Why? Steady-targeting is explicitly supposed to help kill casters and durable units like Brood Lords and Ultralisks.

Ghost-based compositions were also heavily nerfed with the supply increase in the last patch.

Plus, your suggested change also makes it much harder for everything else to deal with Brood Lords.

I can understand Thors being a good counter to Brood Lords as they have similar cost, but the relatively cheap Ghost shuts down Brood Lord too hard for low cost. I think increasing BL health would improve its viability as they aren’t worth the cost.

Being able to defeat a unit efficiently is exactly the point of a counter unit. If you’re just throwing equal amounts of money at a problem, that’s not a counter unit, that’s just having a stronger economy.

As Kelthar already explained, counter units do not need to cost as much as the units they counter.
Generally, counter units should be cost-efficient, unless the faction normally has some huge production capacity or economy bonus.

Ghost are one of the game’s more expensive casters. Technically, they are 4th place. (Mothership–>Viper/Oracle–>Ghost–>Raven/Infestor–>High Templar–>Overseer->Sentry).

If Brood Lords did not spawn Broodlings, then yes they would not be worth their cost.

However, Brood Lords with Broodlings can zone out pretty much all ground units except for Thors and Ghosts (the latter of which their Broodlings can interrupt). This capacity to zone out units and interrupt Ghosts is what makes Brood Lords very effective.

While I agree with your points, I do think that Broodlords were over-nerfed.

I personally would like to see some of the broodling changes reverted, and I’d like to see Broodlords get that bug-fix that was talked about in the previous patch that was left untouched.

Agree. Broodling changes reverted would probably be better course to take.
